This paper is the result of study large collections Sertulariidae Lamouroux, 1812 (Cnidaria, Hydrozoa, Hydroidolina) obtained from continental margins Northwest Africa by several Spanish and Norwegian surveys between 2004 2012. Material collected Lusitanian seamounts French Seamount 1 expedition Great Meteor Bank German survey 42/3 were also examined. A total 12 species belonging to genus Diphasia studied illustrated, four new described: leonisae n. sp., saharica africana anaramosae sp....
One new genus (Schizoplumularia) and three species (Schizoplumularia vervoorti, S. geniculata elegans) of plumulariids are recognized described from large collections plumularioid hydroids collected in New Caledonia vicinity during several French expeditions. During taxonomic studies these hydroids, colonies were compared with type material Plumularia insignis Allman, 1883 other similar species-group taxa. As a result, the latter (P. flabellum 1883, P. conjuncta Billard, 1913, billardi nom....

The present report deals with the hydroids collected during Spanish survey Bissau-0811, and two CCLME international surveys, carried out in 2008, 2011 2012, respectively, along coast of Guinea-Bissau, between 20 940 m depth. A total 76 species belonging to 40 genera 23 families were identified. Hebella sp. probably represents a new species, but lack fertile material prevents us from describing it as such. ritchiei Vervoort, 1959 was found for first time. combination Obelia pseudodichotoma...
In this report, we analyse the benthic hydroids collected on Vema and Valdivia seamounts during a survey conducted in 2015 SEAFO Convention Area, focused mapping analysing occurrence abundance of benthopelagic fish vulnerable marine ecosystem (VMEs) indicators selected Southeast Atlantic seamounts. A total 27 hydroid species were identified, which 22 belong to Leptothecata only five Anthoathecata. Monostaechoides gen. nov. was erected within family Halopterididae accommodate Plumularia...
<title>Abstract</title> Our knowledge of biogeographic patterns and processes in the deep sea has been limited by lack integrated datasets that cover its vast extent. Here we analyse a new global dataset genomic DNA sequences, spanning an entire taxonomic class benthic invertebrates (Ophiuroidea), to obtain broad understanding phylogenetic divergence biotic movement across all oceans, from coastal margins down abyssal plains. We show regional faunas on continental shelf are phylogenetically...
The number of recreational marinas has increased in recent years due to the growing demand for leisure boating. Recreational are key points introduction non-indigenous species (NIS), which considered a source biocontamination. However, there is scarce knowledge on influence environmental features NIS fouling assemblages, especially regarding different salinity conditions. aim this study explore effect structure assemblages and biocontamination levels. Therefore, associated with floating...
ABSTRACTThis paper describes the study of a small collection Sertularioidea Lamouroux, 1812 (Cnidaria, Hydrozoa) collected along Guinea Current Large Marine Ecosystem (GCLME) during four oceanographic surveys performed between 2005 and 2008. The samples were at 12 stations located depths 18 359 m using bottom trawl Petersen grab. A total 112 colonies identified, belonging to 13 species, nine genera, three families. family Sertulariidae showed highest species richness, with 11 whereas...
Thirteen hermit crab species of the families Diogenidae, Paguridae and Parapaguridae were captured in deep waters off Mauritania during Maurit surveys. A new genus Paguristes, Paguristes candelae n. sp., is described. Areopaguristes mauritanicus comb. proposed for Bouvier, 1906 Pseudopaguristes marocanus A. Milne-Edwards & 1892; females latter are reported first time. Our data extends geographical distribution southwards that Paragiopagurus macroceros northwards. Both species, together...
This paper is the result of study a squat lobsters collection obtained along Mauritanian coast, between 91 and 1867 m depth, during ‘MAURIT’ surveys carried out in period from 2007 to 2010. Eumunida bella de Saint Laurent & Macpherson, 1990 (Chirostyloidea) six species Munida Munidopsis (Galatheoidea) are reported present work.A new species, anaramosae n. sp. collected off northwestern Banc d’Arguin at 1000–1012 described illustrated. The presence an eyespine that arises distally middle...
In a descriptive study of megafauna several Southeast Atlantic seamounts, multiple video-transects on upper slopes and summits documented the occurrence benthic invertebrate taxa, primarily corals, regarded as indicators vulnerable marine ecosystems (VMEs) defined in international guidelines. At Schmitt-Ott Seamount there was pronounced dominance gorgonian corals (seafans, Alcyonacea). all other areas diversity greater, more scleractinians (stony Scleractinia) were observed. Scleractinian...
Most of the Southeast Atlantic Ocean is abyssal, and global bathymetries suggest that only ∼3.2% areas beyond national jurisdiction (ABNJ; also known as high seas, defined in United Nations Convention on Law Sea [UNCLOS]) are shallower than 2 500 m. This study mapped bathymetry characterised substrates selected seamount summit areas, including several have been or may become fishing areas. The southernmost location, Schmitt-Ott Seamount, has exposed volcanic bedrock with surrounding flats...
Four multidisciplinary oceanographic surveys were conducted in November and December from 2007 to 2010, along the Mauritanian coast (NW Africa). A total of 10,514 brachyuran crabs belonging 33 species captured 316 hauls at depths between 79 1867 m. The most specious family was Inachidae represented by nine species; remaining 24 belonged 16 other families. Monodaeus cristulatus is reported for first time since its original description. Seven species, Ethusa rugulosa, Pseudomyra mbizi, Inachus...
This publication is the third in a series of accounts on large collections Plumularioidea McCrady, 1859 (Cnidaria, Hydrozoa, Hydroidolina) obtained during several French expeditions to Philippines region, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Fiji, and Marquesas Islands. Additional material from Mozambique was also examined discussed. A total 17 species, belonging families Kirchenpaueriidae Stechow, 1921 (two species) Plumulariidae (15 species), are scrutinized illustrated present report. Three new...
