A class of tensor models were recently outlined as potentially calculable examples holography: their perturbative large-N behavior is similar to the Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) model, but they are fully quantum mechanical (in sense that there no quenched disorder averaging). These facts make them intriguing tentative for black holes. In this note, we explicitly diagonalize simplest non-trivial Gurau-Witten model and study its spectral late-time properties. We find parallels (a single sample of)...

First, we consider simplest non-trivial uncolored model show that results for density of states, level spacing spectral form factor are qualitatively identical to colored case studied in arXiv:1612.06330. also explain an overall 16-fold degeneracy by identifying various symmetries, some which were unavailable SYK models. We study the high temperature transport behavior of Aubry-Andr\'e-Harper (AAH) model, both in isolated thermodynamic limit and open system. At critical point AAH we find hints super-diffusive from scaling spread an initially localized wavepacket. On other hand, when connected to two baths with different chemical potentials at ends, that shows clear sub-diffusive current system size. provide explanation this by showing system-size is entirely governed single particle eigenfunctions boundary...

A binary aqueous suspension of large (L) and small (S) nearly-hard-sphere colloidal polystyrene spheres is shown to segregate spontaneously into L-rich S-rich regions for suitable choices volume fraction size ratio. This the first observation such purely entropic phase separation chemically identical species in which at least one component remains fluid. Simple theoretical arguments are presented make this effect plausible.

We demonstrate that square two-dimensional grating templates can drive the growth of three-dimensional, face-centered-cubic (fcc) colloidal crystals by convective assembly. The symmetry [i.e., (100) planes parallel to substrate] underlying template was transferred crystal and maintained throughout its ∼50 layers. characterized grown on flat templated substrates using electron microscopy small-angle x-ray scattering (SAXS). We study the effect of a missing spin in one dimensional $S=1/2$ antiferromagnet with nearest neighbour Heisenberg exchange $J$ and six-spin coupling $Q=4qJ$ using Quantum Monte-Carlo (QMC) bosonization techniques. For $q< q_c \approx 0.04$, system is quasi-long range ordered power-law antiferromagnetic phase, which gives way to valence-bond solid state that spontaneously breaks lattice translation symmetry for $q> q_c$. ground texture $\Phi(r) = <G_{\uparrow}|S^z(r)|G_{\uparrow}>$...

We exhibit an exactly solvable example of a SU(2) symmetric Majorana spin liquid phase, in which quenched disorder leads to random-singlet phenomenology. More precisely, we argue that strong-disorder fixed point controls the low temperature susceptibility $\chi(T)$ $S=1/2$ model on decorated honeycomb lattice with bond and/or vacancies, leading $\chi(T) = {\mathcal C}/T+ D} T^{\alpha(T) - 1}$ where $\alpha(T) \rightarrow 0$ as $T 0$. We present variational estimates for the low-lying energies of a simple matrix model that approximates SU(3) Yang–Mills theory on three-sphere radius R. By fixing ground state energy, we obtain (integrated) renormalization group (RG) equation coupling g as function This RG allows to estimate mass other glueball states, which find be in excellent agreement with lattice simulations.
