Dust flows around an obstacle in three-dimensionally extended dust clouds have been investigated on parabolic flights. As the obstacle, a tungsten wire has installed midplane between electrodes of parallel-plate radio frequency discharge. A periodic motion was generated by superimposing low-frequency modulation electrodes, shifting cloud electrodes. Due to nature motion, several shocks could be observed at varying densities. When flow transonic or supersonic, bow were formed upstream and...

In this paper, we give a detailed description of novel plasma chamber-the Zyflex chamber-that has been specifically designed for complex/dusty research under reduced gravitational influence as realized during parabolic flight or aboard the International Space Station. The cylindrical, radio-frequency driven discharge device includes variety innovations that, example, allow us to flexibly adjust parameters and its volume via enhanced generation control movable, multi-segmented electrode...

First results of complex plasma experiments in microgravity with grid electrodes the Ekoplasma facility are presented. These separate region production from working volume where microparticles injected. Grid allow a control parameters, and provide nearly force-free environment for microparticles. The show that electrode method can be applied to plasmas this technology yields promising new experimental future research topics.

Properties of self-excited dust acoustic waves under the influence active compression particle system were experimentally studied in laboratory and microgravity conditions (parabolic flight). Ground based experiments clearly show that wave properties can be manipulated by changing discharge volume, its aspect ratio, thus density. Complementary conditions, performed to exclude effects gravity inflicted sedimentation anisotropic behavior, less conclusive due residual fluctuations planes...

Template matching is a well-proven approach in the area of articulated object tracking. Matching accuracy and computation time template are essential yet often conflicting goals. In this paper, we present novel, adaptive based on silhouette object. With our approach, ratio between speed simply modifiable parameter, and, even at high accuracy, it still faster than state-of-the-art approach. We approximate by small set axis-aligned rectangles. Utilizing integral image, can thus compare with an...

During a long term research in the field of evacuation simulation, one two most questions, which have been asked, are "Where should I place pedestrians my simulation?" and "Which pre-movement time choose?" To answer these placed different locations to show effect time, building interval has varied (we choose uniform distribution for interval). What we found was boundary value, on influence calculated changed.

Detection of articulated objects in images, including location and state, is an important challenging task many object tracking applications. Image edges have proven to be a key feature, although their quality influenced by factors. In this paper, we propose novel edge gradient-based template matching method for detection. contrast other methods, ours does not perform any binarization or discretization during the online matching. This facilitated new continuous gradient similarity measure....

The micrometer-sized particles in a complex plasma can be directly visualized and recorded by digital video cameras. To analyze the dynamics of single particles, reliable algorithms are required to accurately determine their positions sub-pixel accuracy from images. Here, we combine with common techniques for image processing, study several algorithms, pre- post-processing methods, impact choice threshold parameters.
