Summary The snow lotus species Saussurea involucrata (Kar. & Kir.) Sch.Bip., an endangered traditional Chinese herb, belongs to a genus of the Asteraceae family. Syringin present in S. stands as one predominant bioactive compounds. However, biosynthetic pathway syringin remains largely elusive.
