OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of a one year programme running training (up to 40 km/day for 15 weeks) on spatial orientation pattern collagen and glycosaminoglycans in articular cartilage different parts knee (stifle) shoulder joints young beagle dogs. METHODS: Area specific measurements optical path difference (= retardation, gamma) zone thickness were performed using conventional procedures new computer based quantitative polarised light microscopy method. Transmission electron was...

To investigate articular cartilage collagen network, thickness of birefringent zones, and glycosaminoglycan concentration in macroscopically normal looking knee joint young beagles subjected to experimental slowly progressive osteoarthritis (OA).OA was induced by a tibial 30 degree valgus osteotomy 15 female at the age 3 months. Fifteen sisters were controls. Cartilage specimens collected seven (Group 1) 18 months 2) postoperatively. Collagen optical path difference zone measurements...

The aim of this study was to measure the concentrations gaseous and particulate contaminants originated from additive manufacturing operations post-processes in an occupational setting when plastics were used as feedstock materials. Secondary aims evaluate concentration levels based on proposed exposure limits target values propose means reduce released processes. Volatile organic compounds sampled with Tenax TA adsorption tubes analyzed a thermo desorption gas chromatography-mass...

In order to evaluate the ability of arthroscopic indentation instrument, originally developed for measurement cartilage stiffness during arthroscopy, detect degeneration, we compared changes in with structural and constitutional alterations induced by enzymes on tissue vitro. The culturing osteochondral plugs Petri dishes was initiated Minimum Essential Medium Earle's salts baseline measured. Then, experimental specimens were digested using trypsin 24 h, chondroitinase ABC or purified...

Training at a very young age may influence the characteristics of collagen network articular cartilage extracellular matrix (ECM) in horses. To investigate whether increasing workload foals results significant changes biochemical composition ECM.Thoroughbred (n = 33) were divided into 2 different exercise groups from 10 days-18 months. One group (PASTEX; n 15) was reared pasture; other (CONDEX; 18) underwent specific additional training programme that increased by 30%. At mean 18 months, 6...

In this case study, hospital workers did suffer from symptoms related to the poor indoor air quality. To investigate reasons for MM40-survey and house inspection methods were performed. The study consisted of 49 operating rooms 470 employees. MM-40 survey revealed that over 40% staff suffered skin reactions, 50% had upper respiratory tract 25% headaches. No reason staff's symptom could be found in structural studies workplaces. mean exchange rate was 5.51/h. total 61 materials samples taken....

Birch bark, spruce and hemp hurds were processed with hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) stepwise slow pyrolysis (SSP) the compositions of aqueous liquid products quantitatively compared. The phenolic profiles analyzed different, but overall they contained similar concentrations aromatics compounds (4–43 mM 52–215 mM, respectively). SSP fractional condensation provided liquids lower water content (appr. 80 % in SSP, 95 HTL), HTL process was selective e.g. producing catechols into phase....

Abstract Background : Inbred C57BL made mice express a high incidence of spontaneous osteoarthritis the knee joint at age 18 months. We used this strain to find out effects life‐long, moderate running exercise on health articular cartilage and osteoarthritis. Methods Male (294) were divided into controls runners. The runners trained daily between 2 months age. speed was 13.3 m/min distance flatbelt treadmill 1,000 m/day. sacrificed ages 2, 6, 10, 14, Knee joints sectioned in frontal...

Landfill gas (LFG) is formed by microorganisms within a landfill; it can be utilized as renewable fuel in power plants. Impurities such hydrogen sulfide and siloxanes cause significant damage to engines turbines. The aim of this study was determine the filtration efficiencies biochar products made birch willow remove sulfides, siloxanes, volatile organic compounds from streams compared activated carbon. Experiments were conducted on laboratory scale with model real LFG plant where...

When supply air passes through a filter, ozone and other oxidants may react with the dust compounds adsorbed on it causing decomposition of producing oxidation products. These reactions have been studied nine used filters in laboratory. Some consumption was observed almost all filters. The changes concentrations individual organic due to penetration filter were negligible, except for formaldehyde which produced. Air velocity range 0.1-0.2 ms −1 concentration from 20 60 ppb did not an effect...
