Abstract In order to provide the first comparative source of nematofaunal data at oxic/anoxic interface off Sinop Peninsula, southern Black Sea, a survey meiofauna and nematode fauna was conducted in August 2011 aboard exploration vessel (E/V) Nautilus with ROV during Sea Expedition NA012. Higher meiofaunal taxa composition were investigated. Free-living marine nematodes most abundant group each site. A total 84 species found, belonging 23 families. The suboxic zone dominated by Trefusia...

In this paper, Megastygarctides sezginii sp. nov., a new marine species from the Black Sea (Turkey), is described. Morphological and morphometric studies have revealed that M. nov. most similar to setoloso Morgan & O'Reilly, 1988, but differs it through presence of two types fibrils, lack cuticle granulation, three lateral projections with leg fibrils arranged in transverse stripes clumps near clavae. studied environment, frequently found summer almost absent winter. Additionally, taxonomic...

Abstract The first comprehensive meiobenthos study was carried out in Turkey, the Southern Black Sea (Sinop) from August 2009 to July 2010.Sediment samples were collected monthly at eight stations 3 m and 10 water depths located on four transects. A metal push core sampler (surface area 12.56 cm 2 length used obtain material. Meiofaunal abundance composition examined. results revealed that meiofaunal community consists of twenty five higher taxonomic groups. Four groups dominated community;...

New records of marine mites the family Pontarachnidae Koenike, 1910 (Acari: Hydrachnidia) from southern Black Sea (Sinop bay, Turkey) are presented. Two species, i.e., Pontarachna valkanovi Petrova, 1978 and adriatica Morselli, 1980 recorded for first time Turkey. These these species after its orginal description. Our study shows ecological differences between species: were collected 3 m depth, while P. adraitica seems to be characteristic deeper waters (10 depth).

It is known that degassing processes are currently observed in the underwater part of beach zone Laspi Bay (the southern coast Crimea). The site gas emissions (methane) confined to coastal bay and located at a distance 15.0 – 40.0 m from coastline. Data on taxonomic richness quantitative development meiobenthos (2017) presented for first time this study. meiobenthic assemblages studied area were very diverse including representatives 24 high taxa Protozoa Metazoa (phylum, class, order). most...

Specimens of the gastrotrich genus Musellifer are recorded for first time from Black Sea. These specimens, identified as M. profundus Vivier, 1974, were found in sediment samples collected at various depths (22−135 m) and waters characterized by low salinity (17.3−18.62‰) varying levels oxygen (2.43−299.59 μM). Three specimens Istanbul Strait (Bosphorus) outlet area Sea (Turkey) 2 along southern southeastern shelf Crimean Peninsula (Russia), Yalta Gulf Feodosiya Gulf.

For this purpose, material 17 localities throughout Atlantic Ocean Mediterranean Black Seas was investigated.
