Abstract. The seasonal climate drivers of the carbon cycle in tropical forests remain poorly known, although these account for more assimilation and storage than any other terrestrial ecosystem. Based on a unique combination pan-tropical data sets from 89 experimental sites (68 include aboveground wood productivity measurements 35 litter measurements), their associated canopy photosynthetic capacity (enhanced vegetation index, EVI) climate, we ask how allocation are related to seasonality...

A seasonal period of water deficit characterizes tropical dry forests (TDFs). There, sympatric tree species exhibit a diversity growth rates, functional traits, and responses to drought, suggesting that each may possess different strategies grow under conditions availability. The evaluation the long-term changes in soil balance should provide an understanding how when coexisting respond TDFs. Furthermore, such differential be linked traits related storage conductance. We used...

Medivelso, H.A., Camarero, J.J., Gutiérrez, E. 2016. Dendrochronology in Neotropical dry forests: methods, advances and applications. Ecosistemas 25(2): 66-75. Doi.: 10.7818/ECOS.2016.25-2.08 forests (TDFs) are characterized by a season which allows some tree species forming annual rings. In TDFs the study of rings using dendrochronology involves their identification, dating measurement. this way, we gain retrospective view growth at temporal scale agreement with longevity. Having good...

An in situ experiment determined that the addition of ammonia N-NH 4 + , nitrate N-NO 3 – and phosphate P-PO 3– to an oligotrophic Andean stream significantly affected diatom composition diversity. Over a nine-month period, fertilized non-fertilized sections were studied for their environmental characteristics composition. Nutrient concentrations increased three times downstream section with respect those occurring naturally upstream. Alpha diversity (Shannon-Wiener [H”] Simpson [S] indices)...
