There are multiple hypotheses for human responses to glacial cycling in the Late Pleistocene, including changes population size, interconnectedness, and mobility. Lithic technological analysis informs us of environmental change because lithic assemblage characteristics a reflection raw material transport, reduction, discard behaviors that depend on hunter-gatherer social economic decisions. Pinnacle Point Site 5–6 (PP5-6), Western Cape, South Africa is an ideal locality examining influence...

The objective of this study was to determine if visible reflectance spectroscopy and quantitative colorimetry represent viable approaches classifying the heat treatment state silcrete. Silcrete is a soil duricrust that has been used as toolstone since at least Middle Stone Age. ancient practice treating silcrete prior knapping considerable interest paleolithic archaeologists because its implications for early modern human complex cognition generally ability manipulate material properties...

In recent years, there has been a revolution in data-driven policing. With that come scrutiny on how bias historical data affects algorithmic decision making. this exploratory work, we introduce debiasing technique for place-based patrol management systems. We show the efficiently eliminates racially biased features while retaining high accuracy models. Finally, provide lengthy list of potential future research realm fairness and policing which work uncovered.
