The effects of deposited Pt and its deposition route on the photocatalytic reforming glycerol for H2 evolution over Pt/TiO2 were investigated. Intimately loaded Pt(0) particles are key active sites reaction, formation which was favored by an in situ photo-deposition route.

A simple and convenient one-pot solvothermal method was developed for the preparation of platinized CdS nanorods. It is more efficient than conventional post-deposition methods to enhance HER activity CdS. The use a noble metal co-catalyst can be significantly reduced by route without unduly sacrificing activity.

Construction of heterojunctions between semiconductors is a significant way to promote the photocatalytic performance by improving photogenerated charge separation. Herein, CdS with multistage structures (sphere, flower, and wheat) were first synthesized, their activities hydrogen production not too high as massive electrons holes are rapidly recombined. NiS/CdS composites then prepared depositing NiS nanofragments on surface, which exhibited higher activity (about 13-fold) than pure CdS....
