The Upper Jurassic strata of the Krížna Unit in Tatra Mts. comprises pelagic, fine-grained and well-oxygenated deposits. They are represented by red radiolarites radiolarian limestones (Czajakowa Radiolarites Formation), nodular (Czorsztyn Limestones Formation) wavy, platy or light grey reddish marlstones (Jasenina Formation). These deposits mainly wackestones characterized a succession following microfacies: radiolarian, filament- Saccocoma , Globochaete–Saccocoma . section...

Abstract Latest Eocene plant macrofossils and trace fossils collected a century ago by Wiktor Kuźniar are revised their stratigraphical palaeoecological meaning is re-considered. They derive from marine limestones marls cropping out on the northern slope of Hruby Regiel mountain in Western Tatra Mountains. Leaves belonging to families Fagaceae Lauraceae fruits palm Nypa recognized. The co-occurrence planktonic foraminifer taxa Chiloguembelina cf. gracillima Globigerinatheca index suggests...

The Jurassic of the Alpine-Mediterranean Tethys was characterized by formation several interconnected basins, which underwent gradual deepening and oceanization. Sedimentation in each basin influenced a specific set interrelated factors, such as tectonic activity, seawater circulation, climate, chemistry trophic state well evolutionary changes marine biota. This paper deals with Fatricum Domain (Central Carpathians, Poland Slovakia), pull-apart on thinned continental crust. sedimentation...

Sparry limestone, ferruginous muddy limestone and breccia have been found in the Western Tatra Mts. They occur within Jurassic rocks of Choč Nappe just below red conglomerates probable Eocene age. The deposits bear strong resemblance to infill subterranean karst forms. differ significantly from Quaternary δ 18 O values spelean carbonates suggest crystallisation at relatively high temperatures (over 20°C) whereas their negative 13 C imply presence soil-derived CO 2 linked with vegetation...
