Establishing realistic targets for fish community composition is needed to assess the effectiveness of river restoration projects. We used environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding with MiFish primers obtain estimates across 17 sites upstream, downstream and within a mitigation project area (Kaihotsu–Kasumi) located in Shigenobu River system, Ehime Prefecture, Japan. evaluate benefits using eDNA quickly, sensitively, extensively gather data establish existing area, as well potential future...
Abstract Two types of the karyomorphs in katydid Mecopoda elongata (L.) from Borneo (Malaysia) and Amami Is. (Japan) were found. The chromosomal complement M. one karyomorph (Kota Kinabalu – song 1) consists 28 autosomes plus X male (2n = 29). In two long pairs, pair L1 is metacentric, whereas L2 subacrocentric. Other are meta or submetacentric. size shape chromosome similar to pair. “Kota - song-2” has same number as “KK song-1” “Amami”. However, belonging metacentric. these chromosomes...
We examined the genetic population structure of endangered freshwater cyprinid Acheilognathus tabira in Japanese archipelago, which has only been analyzed limited sampling previous studies, based on cytochrome b region mitochondrial gene. confirmed existence same three lineages determined study, natural distribution area Lineage I and II+III were considered to be Seto Inland Sea Ise Bay regions, respectively. Furthermore, was divided into five groups inhabiting neighboring water systems...
C-banding patterns in Japanese grasshoppers belonging to the subfamily Podisminae : Podisma sapporensis Shiraki (2n _??_=23, NF=23), Parapodisma subastris Huang, tenryuensis Kobayashi, yamato Tominaga et Storozhenko, mikado (I. Bolivar), Fruhstorferiola okinawaensis (Shiraki) _??_=21, NF =21), and Sinopodisma punctata Mistshenko _??_ = 21, all chromosomes are two-armed) were studied. Cytogenetic similarities differences between particular species discussed using method.

Abstract A new grasshopper genus and species of the subfamily Eyprepocnemidinae, Ogasawaracris gloriosus , is described from Ogasawara Islands, oceanic islands south Japan. This has unique characteristics, such as an extraordinarily large body, rugose very coarse punctation on lateral surface pronotum, strong pronotal carinae. Specimens this have rarely been collected they are known only Islands. The may already be extinct.
A new phaneropterine species of Stylomolpa Karny 1926 is described, montana. This was found in the submontane zone (1000-1500m) Sabah, Borneo.
