Abstract Thaumarchaeota are responsible for a significant fraction of ammonia oxidation in the oceans and soils that range from alkaline to acidic. However, adaptive mechanisms underpinning their habitat expansion remain poorly understood. Here we show into acidic high pressures hadopelagic zone is tightly linked acquisition variant energy-yielding ATPases via horizontal transfer. Whereas ATPase genealogy neutrophilic congruent with organismal inferred concatenated conserved proteins, common...

Primula beesiana Forr. is an attractive wildflower endemically distributed in the wet habitats of subalpine/alpine regions southwestern China. This study attempt to understand how this plant adapts and high altitudes. Specifically, we examined effects cold stratification, light, GA3, KNO3, temperature on P. seed germination. KNO3 GA3 increased germination percentage rate compared control treatments at 15/5 25/15 °C. Untreated seeds germinated well (> 80%) higher temperatures (20, 25 28 °C),...

Long-term and large scale spatiotemporal patterns of planted forests are essential for evaluating local plantation effectiveness to promote sustainable afforestation. Satellite remote sensing data provide broad spatial coverage increasingly long-term records analysis forests. In this study, we developed a dynamic conversion extraction (DCE) framework by combining the similarity Landsat normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) time-series with change detection algorithm. This allows...

Abstract It is generally accepted that there a vast, well‐populated biosphere in the subsurface, but depth limit of terrestrial has yet to be determined, largely because lack access subsurface. Here as part Chinese Continental Scientific Drilling (CCSD) project eastern China, we acquired continuous rock cores and endeavored probe depth‐dependent distribution microorganisms at geologically unique site, is, convergent plate boundary. Microbiological analyses ultra‐high‐pressure metamorphic...

Abstract Masting is a common reproductive strategy regulating seedling regeneration in many perennial plant species. The evolutionary origins and functional benefits of masting have been explained by well‐supported hypotheses relating to economies scale seed production. Nevertheless, our understanding the potential costs for seed‐to‐seedling transitions remains limited. We tracked fate documented changes spatial distribution patterns during transition process Castanopsis fargesii , dominant...
