Sciarids (Diptera, Sciaridae) or black fungus gnats are small, mainly dark coloured insects whose larvae usually develop in rotting plant remains permeated by fungal hyphae. On the territory of Ukraine during field seasons 2015–2022, we collected eight Sciara species—S. analis Schiner, 1864, S. flavimana Zetterstedt, 1851, hebes (Loew, 1869), helvola Winnertz, 1867, hemerobioides (Scopoli, 1763), humeralis incerta 1867 and ruficauda Meigen, 1818.
