Much previous research on energy price transmission sheds light the relationship between oil prices and aggregate commodity prices, such as for agricultural products, or food indexes. This letter uses data from 12 U.S. cities 2001 2011 to examine how are transmitted fluid milk products at retail level. Results indicate existence of an asymmetric pass-through (a rise is faster than a fall in prices) that private label more insulated shocks adjust similar rate with national manufacturer brands.
