Abstract Differently substituted anils (Schiff bases) and their boranil counterparts lacking the proton‐transfer functionality have been studied using stationary femtosecond time‐resolved absorption, fluorescence, IR techniques, combined with quantum mechanical modelling. Dual fluorescence observed in was attributed to excited state intramolecular proton transfer. The rate of this process varies upon changing solvent polarity. In nitro‐substituted anil, translocation is accompanied by...
Comparison of photostability in degassed and aerated toluene solutions is reported for 5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin, 5,10,15-tri(p-tolyl)porphyrin, their zinc analogues. After degassing, quantum yields photodegradation are higher, but the photodecomposition rates decrease. Lower stability deoxygenated due to much longer triplet lifetimes: 200-300 microseconds, compared 200-360 ns non-degassed toluene. For porphyrins, LC-MS results show that initial photoproduct contains two oxygen atoms....
Abstract Among seven possible nitrogen‐in constitutional isomers of porphyrin only one, porphycene, has been obtained so far in the free, unsubstituted form. Herein, synthesis another isomer, parent hemiporphycene ( HPc ), and its thorough structural, spectral, photophysical, electrochemical, theoretical characterization are reported. Most properties intermediate between those as evidenced by values inner‐cavity dimensions, orbital‐energy splittings, absorption coefficients, magnetic...
In this work, we demonstrate a novel method for multi-domain analysis of properties analytes in volumes as small picoliters, combining electrochemistry and optical measurements.
Abstract Free base and zinc porphyrins functionalized with cyclooctatetraene (COT), a molecule known as good triplet‐state quencher, have been obtained characterized in detail by structural, spectral, photophysical techniques. Substitution COT leads to dramatic decrease of the intrinsic lifetime porphyrin triplet. As result, photostability oxygen‐free solution increases two three orders magnitude. In non‐degassed solutions, improvement is about tenfold for porphyrins, but free bases become...
Two porphycenes, substituted at the meso positions with two and four methyl groups, respectively, reveal similar absorption spectra, but their photophysical properties are completely different. 9,20-dimethylporphycene emits fluorescence about 20% quantum yield, independent of solvent. In contrast, 9,10,19,20-tetramethylporphycene is extremely weak in nonviscous solvents, it can be recovered by placing chromophore a rigid environment. We propose model that explains these differences, based on...
Abstract This article presents the results of experimental study on manufacturing and mechanical evaluation poly( L ‐lactide‐ co ‐glycolide) (PLGA)‐based fibers modified with ceramic nanoparticles. Study was conducted to establish effect biomimetic formation apatite layers polymeric their properties. The tensile tests were performed determine influence polymer crystallinity presence hydroxyapatite nanoparticles (nanoHAp) properties PLGA coated (HAp) layer. HAp deposits surfaces precipitated...
Porphycenes, structural isomers of porphyrins, usually exhibit strong fluorescence in organic solvents. However, water they are practically insoluble or form only weakly emitting aggregates. We show that embedding porphycenes inside pluronic micelles solutions leads to the recovery monomeric fluorescence, which decay times and quantum yields similar those observed for homogeneous One investigated serves as a sensor microenvironment viscosity, revealing viscosity is quite high. Using confocal...
Four new meso-tetraphenylporphyrin derivatives were prepared, singly and doubly substituted with thiocarbamate thioacetate groups. These compounds subsequently attached to gold nanoparticles suspended in chloroform. Very different kinetics of the attachment revealed; process was much faster for derivatives. Spectral, photophysical, scanning electron microscopy studies revealed large differences morphology gold–porphyrin systems. The porphyrins one linker attach single nanoparticles, whereas...
A series of free base meso-tetraarylporphyrins functionalized with substituents containing one, two, and four cyclooctatetraene (COT) moieties have been obtained characterized by spectral photophysical studies. Three COT-free porphyrins served as reference compounds. COT is a triplet quencher, well-known to enhance the photostability several, but not all, fluorophores. In case porphyrins, substitution improves in zinc derivatives, for bases, effect opposite. We show that placing moiety...
The photochemistry of a cyclic β-thioxoketone (2-methyl-1-(2-thioxycyclohexyl)propan-1-one (MTPO)) is investigated by NMR, UV, and IR experiments supported DFT calculations. MTPO exists as tautomeric mixture an enol thiol form. Irradiation at low temperature led to cis-trans isomerization the form resulting in rather unusual enethiol (3). This followed transfer isopropyl methine proton onto carbonyl carbon yet another isomer (4). photoconversion mechanisms without water present are...

The use of elements plastique animée when working with pre‑school children does not produce spectacular effects on an artistic level, though the employment them has a huge influence creative and emotional development significantly affects their approach to surrounding world. It would be advisable then discuss this issue more broadly. In developmental psychology, Jean Piaget was one first explain these processes. Leo Wygotsky, in turn, is author contrasting socio‑cultural theory; still,...
