Abstract Given the dioecious nature of date palms, selecting an effective pollinizer bearing a substantial quantity high-quality pollen is imperative. In this study, we investigated effects 11 male palm cultivars from Tunisia on production female trees, fruit sets, and characteristics 'Deglet Nour' cultivar dates. The comparison germination rates showed that ABD1 P169 pollens exhibited outstanding viability, with 98.7% 98.3%, respectively. On other hand, had highest rate, at 86.3%. most...

The work presented here aims to contribute with a sustainable alternative chemicals for avoiding deterioration of harvested date palm fruits by evaluating the single or combined use UV-C radiation and ozonated electrolyzed water (EW). In this way, effects light (0; 2.37; 6.22; 8.29 12.14 kJ m−2) alone, effect 6.22 m−2 neutral EW (NEW, pH 6.99, 870 mV ORP, 100 mg L−1 free chlorine), alkaline (AEW, 11.28, −880 1.83 chlorine) (O3, 0.55 mg/L ozone) on overall quality Deglet Nour dates stored 30...

The objective of this study was to assess the impact pulsed electric field (PEF) treatment on extraction polyphenolics and antioxidant activity from downgraded date palm fruits. PEF pretreatments (frequency: 30 Hz, time: 50 μs, pulse number: 240, strengths were found be 1, 2, 2.5 kV.cm−1, methanol (50%) temperatures (20, 40, °C)) optimized applied before produce an extract fruits with a high content bioactive compounds. extracts obtained immediately after analyzed for total polyphenolic...

This study assessed the total polyphenol, flavonoid, flavonols, and condensed tannins contents were also monitored their antioxidant properties in vitro investigated using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical cation, 2,2′-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid), ferric reducing power, β-carotene-linoleic acid bleaching assay for second-grade dates (Phoenix dactylifera L.), from 10 Tunisian cultivars. The results prove that methanolic extracts of date fruits are a rich source...

In the oasis of Tozeur (Tunisia) a peculiar date palm ploidy chimera was discovered, showing diploid (2n =2x) and tetraploid =4x) sector uniform offshoot. This allowed to describe effects chromosome doubling on some selected features.Because both ploidies occur within one plant, there no environmental bias.Tetraploid leaves are longer, bear larger leaflets spines have thicker rachis than normal leaves.During three seasons, inflorescences appeared ten days later their counterparts. The formed...
