The click beetles (Elateridae) represent the major and well-known group of polyphagan superfamily Elateroidea. Despite a relatively rich fossil record Mesozoic Elateridae, only few species are described from Upper Cretaceous Burmese amber. Although Elateridae spend most their lives as larvae, our knowledge on immature stages this family is limited, which especially valid for fossils. So far, single larval beetle has been reported Here, we describe two specimens same deposit based morphology...

Zoraptera is one of the smallest and least known insect orders, with only 47 described species, mostly from tropical regions. Data on their distribution remain largely scattered throughout extensive often old and/or not easily accessible literature. Recent changes in supraspecific classification order, combined recent discoveries new species other taxonomic changes, have made understanding even less clear. To summarize update knowledge worldwide Zoraptera, we compiled a data resource...

An annotated catalogue of the genera Hapatesus Candѐze, 1863 and Toorongus Neboiss, 1957 (Coleoptera: Elateridae) is presented. Altogether, 21 species are classified in (of which five subgenus Minutesus 1957), four Toorongus. The distributed Australia, New Guinea, Bismarck Archipelago Zealand, there also dubious reports from Taiwan, India Uganda. Toorongus, on other hand, an endemic Australia. The Elateridae (click-beetles) are the largest family in Elateroidea; however, their relationships, systematics and classification remain unclear. Our understanding of origin, evolution, palaeodiversity palaeobiogeography Elateridae, as well reconstruction a reliable time-calibrated phylogeny for group, hampered by lack detailed knowledge fossil record. In this study, we summarize current on all described species including type material, geographic age, bibliography remarks systematic...

Insect fossils bear important information about the evolutionary history of group. The fossil record Elateridae, a large cosmopolitan beetle family, has been greatly understudied and available data are often replete with ambiguity uncertainty. research Elateridae evolution cannot be done without solid genus-group name concepts. In this study we provide an updated comprehensive summary genera in including their systematic placement on type species, gender, number age range, relevant...

Abstract Fossil bioinclusions in amber are invaluable source of information on the past evolution and diversity various organisms, as well paleoecosystems general. The click-beetles, Elateridae, which originated greatly diversified during Mesozoic, mostly known from adpression-like fossils, their Cretaceous ambers is only poorly documented. In this study, we describe a new click-beetle based an incomplete inclusion ajkaite, Upper (Santonian) Ajka Coal Formation Hungary. We used X-ray...

Beetle fossils are a rich source of information about the palaeodiversity and evolutionary history order Coleoptera. Despite increasing rate fossil research on click-beetles (Coleoptera: Elateridae), most diverse group in superfamily Elateroidea, their record has remained largely unstudied. This may be caused by combination rather uniform external morphology suboptimal state preservation visibility specimens. Here, we used X-ray micro-computed tomography to reconstruct an interesting...
