Street crossing can be a significant challenge for visually impaired people, limiting their mobility especially in urban environments. To date, there are few solutions this problem. Current approaches guiding blind pedestrians crosswalks have mainly focused on detection of and crosswalk signals. Few studies taken into consideration the person while street crossing. We programmed commercially available, wearable goggle system to detect signals, plan path across street, provide verbal cues...
In 2006, speeding-related crashes accounted for over 13,500 fatalities in the United States and many studies also indicate that speed and/or dispersion are a major cause of on U.S. highways. This paper summarizes results deployment rational limits (RSLs) approach two limited access highways Virginia. The RSL involves coordinated campaign to post sound credible limits, increase enforcement, implement public information education (PI&E). goal is better regulate travel speeds, thereby improving...
Independent travelling is a significant challenge for visually impaired people in urban settings. Traditional and widely used aids such as guide dogs long canes provide basic guidance obstacle avoidance but are not sufficient complex situations street crossing. We propose new wearable system that can safely user with visual impairment at signalized crosswalk. Safe crossing an important element of fully independent who blind or (BVI), challenging BVI because it involves several steps reliant...
By transplanting the Developmental Eye Movement (DEM) test chart to a virtual reality head-mounted display (VR HMD) system, this study sought evaluate effectiveness of DEM for measuring dynamic visual acuity.Thirty-nine adults aged 20–39 years both genders were subjects study. After undergoing measurement their function, through medical questionnaire, interpupillary distance, near point convergence (NPC), accommodation (NPA), and far phoria, correlation between tests was analyzed performing...
Semantic scene understanding is beneficial for mobile robots. information obtained through onboard cameras can improve robots' navigation performance. However, obtaining semantic on small robots with constrained power and computation resources challenging. We propose a new lightweight convolution neural network comparable to previous segmentation algorithms applications. Our achieved 73.06% the Cityscapes validation set 71.8% test set. model runs at 116 fps <tex...

This study evaluated the dynamic visual acuity of candidates by implementing a King–Devick (K-D) test chart in virtual reality head-mounted display (VR HMD) and an augmented (AR HMD). Hard-copy KD (HCKD), VR HMD (VHKD), AR (AHKD) tests were conducted 30 male female age 10S 20S subjective symptom surveys conducted. In surveys, all except one VHKD questionnaire items showed symptoms less than 1 point. comparison between HCKD VHKD, was measured more rapidly tests. AHKD, AHKD Tests 1, 2,...
Domain adaptation for object detection (DAOD) aims to transfer a trained model from source target domain. Various DAOD methods exist, some of which minimize context bias between foreground-background associations in various domains. However, no prior work has studied by analyzing changes background features during and how is represented different Our research experiment highlights the potential usability DAOD. We address problem varying activation values over layers models masking...
Recently, VR HMD (virtual reality head mounted display) has been utilized for virtual training, entertainment, vision therapy, and optometry. In particular, contents are increasingly used therapy Accordingly, high-quality such as a natural of life is required. Therefore, it necessary to study the content production according optical characteristics HMD. The purpose this paper suggest proper FOV (field view) distortion rate. We produced obtained distorted images by camera. rate calculated...
Deployment of a deep convolutional neural network on low compute device is an increasingly important area research. Wearable systems, drones, and robots use semantic information to manipulate, control, estimate variables related efficient navigation or gain contextual information. However, real-time segmentation challenging devices. We propose compact for applications device. Our decoder uses pixel shuffling achieve inferences. compared our CNN with state-of-the-art models ranked the...
Visual prostheses can improve vision for people with severe loss, but low image resolution and lack of peripheral limit their effectiveness. To address both problems, we developed a prototype advanced video processing system headworn depth camera feature detection capabilities. We used computer algorithms to detect landmarks representing goal plan path towards the goal, while removing unnecessary distractors from video. If landmark fell outside visual prosthesis's field-of-view (20 degrees...
최근 다양한 가상현실 구현 장치 중 HMD(Head Mounted Display) 기반의 기술이 주목받고 있다. NPP(Native Pixel Parallax) 계산을 좌/우 영상의 시차에 의해 가상 깊이로 환산 하였다. 환산된 적용한 이미지를 제작하고, HMD에서 적용하였다. 내의 구현하는 고품질의 콘텐츠 제작 분야에 정량적 자료로 활 용될 것으로 기대된다.
The history documentary in Korea has developed various forms of production techniques to overcome the insufficient historical records and limitations dramatic elements that make viewers immersed. This paper analyzed “immersion experience” programs, which have been main turning points development documentary, investigated methods utilizing virtual reality as a new broadcasting contents technique through experimental using KBS 3D “Uigwe”.
In this paper, we present a dynamic LED lighting system for using motion recognition, and implement demonstration Kinect XC2287. The presented consists of the recognition XC 2287. By capturing images from hand movement, specified can be recognized. Based on motion, control system. For example, handle turning ON/OFF system, changing color sequences, or adjusting intensity light. with XC2287 board shows applicability proposed
Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) are required to measure emissions impacts of transportation plans and programs utilizing an estimator such as MOtor Vehicle Emission Simulator (MOVES) or EMission FACtor (EMFAC) models demanding intensive data time consumption run for scenario planning sensitivity tests.
