The aim of this study was to establish an iron overload rat model simulate the elevated levels in patients with thalassemia and investigate potential association between hippocampal deposition cognition. Two groups overloaded rats one group control were used for study. Morris water maze (MWM) test spatial reference memory indicated by escape latency time number MWM platform crossings. magnetic susceptibility value tissue, a measure deposition, assessed quantitative mapping (QSM) correlated...

To develop and validate a radiomics nomogram model for predicting the micropapillary pattern (MPP) in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) tumors of ≤2 cm size. In this study, 300 LUAD patients from our institution were randomly divided into training cohort (n = 210) an internal validation 90) at ratio 7:3, besides, we selected 65 another hospital as external cohort. The region interest tumor was delineated on computed tomography (CT) images, features extracted. A established using features, clinical...

Conclusions. Significant difference in the incidence of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) mutations was found between Chinese and USA populations. The identification mtDNA A1555G mutation a large proportion probands with nonsyndromic sensorineural hearing loss (NSHL) provides molecular explanation for high prevalence aminoglycoside-induced deafness China. Objective. aim to characterize audiological genetic features NSHL due mtDNA. Subjects methods. audiogram analyses were performed 498 patients (290...

Background and aim The clinical outcome of endoscopy submucosal dissection with subsequent radiotherapy for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma remain unclear. In this study we to investigate the efficacy safety endoscopic adjuvant in treatment superficial involving muscularis mucosae (T1a-MM) or submucosa < 200 μm (T1b-SM1). Methods We analyzed 20 patients pathologically confirmed T1a-MM T1b-SM1 treated by from 2016 2020 Lihuili Hospital, 9 received (RT group) 11 did not (non-RT group)....

Abstract Purpose Primary central nervous system post-transplantation lymphoproliferative disorder (PCNS-PTLD) is a rare but serious complication of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) in patients with severe β-thalassemia. This study aimed to assess the clinical presentation, pathological characteristics, neuroimaging findings, and treatment strategies β-thalassemia who developed PCNS-PTLD compare case series from our transplant center reported cases literature. Methods We...

Beta-thalassemia (β-TM) is an inherited blood disorder with severe anemia. In this study, we investigated alterations of T2 heterogeneity in cortical regions caused by β-TM using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Compared healthy controls, patients showed increased heterogeneities bilateral inferior orbitofrontal, left calcarine, cuneus and superior occipital lobe, while no decreased was observed. Thus, concluded that could reveal the β-TM-affecting brain.

Beta-thalassemia (β-TM) is a chronic blood disorder presenting with severe anemia. However, the abnormalities of microstructure in cortical regions are still unclear. Herein, we explored difference quantitative MRI parameters gray matter between β-TM patients and healthy controls. The results showed that altered T1 T2 values specific patients, which may be associated alteration brain matter, such as reduced myelin content excessive iron deposition. Thus, variables promising imaging markers...

Beta-thalassemia (β-TM) is a genetically haematological disorder leading to reduced production of hemoglobin. Yet its alterations in white matter (WM) microstructure remain unclear. The present study aimed analyze quantitative MRI parameters WM β-TM patients using synthetic MRI. results showed that T1, T2 and T1/T2 ratio widespread areas were affected by β-TM, which may be related iron deposition decrease myelin concentration. Thus, we concluded can revealed parameters.

Beta-thalassemia (β-TM) is an inherited blood disorder that causes the body to make less hemoglobin. In this study, we examined altered cortical susceptibility heterogeneity in patients with β-TM vs. healthy controls using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). For regions of heterogeneities group, increase was only found left hippocampus, while decreased were observed for all other located frontal and temporal lobes. Thus, concluded could reveal β-TM-affecting regions.

Abstract Background For patients taking esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), sedation should ideally be used individually based on patients’ comfort and tolerance level. However, currently there is no valid predictive tool. We undertook this study to develop temporally validate a self-assessment tool for predicting discomfort in Chinese undergoing EGD. Methods recruited 1522 routine diagnostic EGD without sedation. collected candidate predictor variables before endoscopy evaluated with 5-point...
