A highly fluorescent, non-perturbing, pentacyclic adenine analog was designed, synthesized, incorporated into DNA and photophysical evaluated.

We have developed hybridization-sensitive fluorescent oligonucleotide probes that, in the presence of quencher strands, undergo efficient fluorescence quenching through formation partial DNA/DNA duplexes. In target RNA, rapid displacement strands results highly enhanced fluorescence.
