Abstract. The study was performed on patients with ischaemic cerebral infarction in order to obtain information serial changes of some platelet parameters and test their prognostic significance. Platelet count, obtained within 48 h after infarction, significantly lower than the control group (213611±65652 mm −3 vs . 299525±60611 , P < 0.001), reaching normal level ninth day thereafter. mean volume greater controls (11.26±1.29 fl 8.93±0.93 fl. normalization generally occurred forty‐fifth...
In this confirmatory study, we tested if a calculation that included the non-uniformity of dose deposition through voxel-based dosimetric variable Ψ was able to improve dose-response agreement with respect mean absorbed D. We performed dosimetry 99mTc-MAA SPECT/CT and 90Y-PET/CT in 86 patients treated 8 instead 4 days after reference date 2.8 times more 90Y glass microspheres/GBq than our previous study. The lesion-by-lesion response assessed mRECIST method an experimental densitometric...
Abstract. Aliberti G, Pulignano I, Schiappoli A, Minisola S, Romagnoli E, Proietta M (Università di Roma ‘La Sapienza’, Rome, Italy). Bone metabolism in ochronotic patients (Case report). J Intern Med 2003; 254: 296–300. We investigated skeletal involvement five male and two female with ochronosis, aged 26–82 years. The main parameters of mineral metabolism, together biochemical markers bone resorption (urinary N‐telopeptides type I collagen) formation (serum isoenzyme alkaline phosphatase...
The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility somatostatin receptor scintigraphy (SRS) for detection site unknown primary neuroendocrine neoplasms in patients whom clinical examination and conventional radiological imaging had failed do so. From 1996 2000, 36 were referred with gastro-entero-pancreatic (GEP) tumours. In these patients, no clinical, or endoscopic diagnostic modalities been able identify tumour. Twenty-nine liver metastases. Of others, one skin lymph node metastases,...
Abstract Background The need for axillary dissection (AD) is declining, but it still essential many patients with nodal involvement who risk developing breast‐cancer–related lymphedema (BCRL) lifelong consequences. Previous nonrandomized studies found reverse mapping and selective (ARM‐SAD) a safe feasible way to preserve the arm's lymphatic drainage. Methods present two‐arm prospective randomized clinical trial was held at single comprehensive cancer center ascertain whether ARM‐SAD can...
Measurement of chromogranin A (CgA) plays a major role in the management neuroendocrine tumors (NET); however, reliable assaying CgA is made difficult by rapid hydrolysis following its release into bloodstream. This study was aimed at assessment two assays for NET patients. measured 93 patients means an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and immunoradiometric (IRMA). The specificity sensitivity were evaluated relation to tumor histology. clinical accuracy receiver-operating...
Aim: In our multicentric ongoing phase I activity escalation study, 90Y-labeled ibritumomab tiuxetan (Ze-valin® was administered in per kilo twice- and three times the maximum tolerable dose of 15 MBq/kg suggested for nonmyeloablative treatments by U.S. registration study. The radioinduced myelodepression overcome stem cell autografting. dosimetric aim to correlate possible extramedullary toxicities organ-absorbed doses or biologic effective (BED). This is a conceptually more suitable...
Hypercalcaemia is found in more than 90% of the cases primitive hyperparathyroidism and malignancies. Rarely, D hypervitaminosis, sarcoidosis, other granulomatous diseases, some drugs, endocrine diseases may be responsible. Nine patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) hypercalcaemia, without evidence primary hyperparathyroidism, have been previously described. Here we report 10th patient SLE along a brief review literature.

Background and aim of the study Thyroglobulin (Tg) evaluation is currently used in follow-up patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC), but measurement methods are flawed by analytical inaccuracy. In this paper we describe results a comparison between seven different immunoradiometric assays (IRMAs) for Tg determination. Material was measured 50 DTC means following commercially available IRMA kits: HTGK-2 (DiaSorin), (Schering-CIS bio international), ELSA-hTG C.T. (ICN...
Background and aim Calcitonin (hCT) is a useful serum marker for the diagnosis monitoring of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC). However, hCT values provided by different methods may differ, leading to difficulties in interpretation results. In this study we compared four immunoradiometric (IRMA) radioimmunometric (RIA) assays determination. Material was measured 35 patients means following commercially available IRMA or RIA kits: CT US (Biosource), (Schering-CIS bio international),...
