Reptiles are remarkably resistant to infections, providing a critical system understand diversity and evolution of the innate immune defense its major players, antimicrobial peptides (AMPs). Here we present first comprehensive characterization AMPs in family Lacertidae with objective understanding their patterns evolution. By means extensive genome mining, obtained nearly complete catalogue proteins from Balearic lizard Podarcis lilfordi: 65 beta-defensins (BDs), eight ovo-defensins (OVODs),...

Abstract The Mediterranean lizard Podarcis lilfordi is an emblematic species of the Balearic Islands. extensive phenotypic diversity among extant isolated populations makes a great insular model system for eco-evolutionary studies, as well challenging target conservation management plans. Here we report first high-quality chromosome-level assembly and annotation P. genome, along with its mitogenome, based on mixed sequencing strategy (10X Genomics linked reads, Oxford Nanopore Technologies...

The loggerhead marine turtle, Caretta caretta, is a widely distributed and endangered species that facing critical population decline, especially in Colombian Caribbean rookeries. Mitochondrial DNA sequence data are of great importance for the description, monitoring, phylogenetic analyses migratory turtle populations. In this study, first full mitochondrial genome nesting was sequenced analyzed. This consists 16 362 bp with nucleotide composition T: 25.7 %, C: 27 A: 35 % G: 12 %. Sequence...

Abstract Islands provide a great system to explore the processes that maintain genetic diversity and promote local adaptation. We explored genomic of Balearic lizard Podarcis lilfordi , an endemic species characterized by numerous small insular populations with large phenotypic diversity. Using newly available genome for this species, we more than 300,000 SNPs, merging Genotype Sequencing (GBS) data previously published Restriction-site associated DNA sequencing (RADSeq) data, providing...

We report the first record of predation on a Helmeted water toad Calyptocephalella gayi tadpole by an adult specimen invasive African clawed frog Xenopus laevis in locality Pichi, Alhué (Santiago Metropolitan Region). This finding is discussed light new sightings, which both species have been detected to coexist different localities central Chile.
