We use microcrystal electron diffraction (MicroED) to determine structures of three organic semiconductors, and show that these can be used along with grazing-incidence wide-angle X-ray scattering (GIWAXS) understand crystal packing orientation in thin films. Together complimentary techniques provide unique structural insights into semiconductor films, a class materials whose device properties electronic behavior are sensitively dependent on solid-state order.
Microcrystal electron diffraction, grazing incidence wide-angle scattering, and UV-Vis spectroscopy were used to determine the unit cell structure relative composition of dimethylated diketopyrrolopyrrole (MeDPP) H- J-polymorphs within thin films subjected vapor solvent annealing (VSA) for different times. Electronic excited state deactivation pathways polymorphs examined by transient absorption spectroscopy, conductive probe atomic force microscopy, molecular modeling. We find VSA initially...
Two diketopyrrolopyrroles (DPPs) and three rylenes (NDI, dPyr PDI, dEO PDI) were combined to form six hierarchical superstructures that assemble as a result of orthogonal H-bonding π···π stacking. The individual components the DPP–NDI well DPP–PDI pairs cast into films, their interrogated by electron microscopy advanced spectroscopy. All feature different geometries, causing subtle changes in solid-state packing DPPs. Changes inter-DPP stacking are scaffolded adjacent have impact on both...

The structure of a turbulent gas flow may be probed by analyzing scintillations laser beam which has traversed the medium. This technique is used to measure spectrum neutral turbulence in pipe where nonuniformly heated and weakly ionized an electrical discharge. First, usual isotropic analysis relating light fluid extended include strong anisotropy as appropriate present case. Second, revealed scintillation, well hot film anemometer, compared with plasma density fluctuations. It found that...
We investigate the problem of designing and engineering metropolitan area optical networks for provisioning multicast sessions. The Q-factor each session is taken into account, aiming at maximizing admitted number connections.
Through a controlled laboratory study, theoretical modeling was developed that accurately relates the reflectance of turbid water to concentrations suspended and dissolved materials; this will be useful in quantitatively mapping pollutant lakes rivers through aerial photography. Laser light illuminated containing both Teflon particles black dye. Over large range these scattering absorbing materials, measured successfully predicted by multiple analysis. (Single scatter analysis produced...

We derive an engineering methodology and study the impact of polarization-dependent gain (PDG) on design cascaded semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA)-based coarse wavelength-division-multiplexing systems. System specifications can be determined based receiver signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) requirements cascaded-SOA OSNR penalty calculations that include a simplified model to calculate PDG statistics.

This paper investigates the problem of designing, engineering and evaluating metropolitan area transparent optical networks for provisioning multicast sessions. Apart from finding minimum cost tree, our proposed technique utilizes a metric on physical performance system, namely Q-factor by calculating Q-penalties impairments via Q-budgeting approach, to investigate whether connection should be admitted network. It uses "tree balancing techniques" sessions aiming at maximizing connections that can

We investigate the OSNR performance of cascaded SOAs in CWDM metropolitan networks. SOA PDG and noise-figure requirements are determined by an engineering methodology based on careful receiver characterization. Performance is compared to conventional EDFA-amplified DWDM.

A new model to describe an arc discharge struck in a turbulent pipe flow is discussed. In this model, randomly twisted column convected down the producing intermittent signal on electrostatic probes. theoretical and experimental analysis of these signals presented. The provides information about discharges rapidly flowing gases also develops techniques useful studying phenomena.
A definite indication that the need for broadcast facilities in near future will far exceed available channels is recognized. feasible expansion appears to be ultra-high-frequency spectrum. To produce maximum number of at ultra-high frequencies, a multiplex system broadcasting has many advantages: large programs are transmitted an assigned frequency from single location and using only one transmitter antenna system. Effective use thus made optimum transmitting site, considerable advantage...
