Limnebius (s.str.) agnieszkae sp. n. from the Crimean Peninsula (Ukraine) is described. It a member of furcatus subgroup L. parvulus species group. The new very similar to stagnalis Guillebeau, 1890, which it can be distinguished by aedeagus only. Information about its habitat and list other water beetles found together with are provided. myrmidon Rey, 1883 recorded for first time Ukraine.
During a study 20 hydrophilid beetle species and 2,457 individuals of beetles belonging to 4 genera: Cercyon, Cryptopleurum, Megasternum Sphaeridium were collected. On the surface bodies 59 (2.40% collected) six species, 174 cases phoresy [55 deutonymphs Uropoda orbicularis (Müller, 1776) 119 pedicels without deutonymphs] observed.New carriers phoretic U. are given. Most mites carried by species. The population dynamics both groups arthropods was also studied. Most recorded in May second half...
A paucity of genetic information and the drastic decline in population size beetle Cerambyx cerdo has made this species a high priority for research conservation management. The state-listed beetle, saproxylic insect associated with oaks, discontinuous range, larger more connected populations southern Europe small isolated continent's central northern parts. Here, we used seven microsatellite loci one DNA fragment mitochondrial gene COI to examine structure, diversity, contemporary flow...
The aim of our study was to determine the limit a beetle’s body size below which it is not able carry phoretic mites. We tested hypothesis that carrier vital factor in selecting host mites with facultative and nonspecific phoresy. conducted on beetles family Hydrophilidae deutonymphs mite Uropoda orbicularis (Müller, 1776). Among 20 species hydrophilids collected, only 7 carried deutonymphs. smallest lengths 2.32 mm did These were Cercyon analis (Paykull, 1798), nigriceps (Marsham, 1802),...
Ilybius thynias sp. n. is a new member of the chalconatus-group and belongs to subgroup same name. It was collected in European part Turkey, not far from western coast Black Sea, some kilometres west Iğneada somewhat south border with Bulgaria. The species externally similar other members that subgroup, but males deviate considerably by shape median lobe parameres. A detailed description several figures are given facilitate an easy identification species. In addition, we have modified key...
Abstract A fine‐scale spatial genetic structure is rarely analysed within insect populations, although such a influences the level of inbreeding and kin dynamics can have implications for long‐term population persistence. high expected in divided hermit beetle Osmoderma barnabita due to its philopatry habitat loss/fragmentation. To assess variability structure, sex contributions variation, gene flow, beetles were collected fragmented forest (2920 ha) employing pheromone‐baited traps,...
New localities of Elmidae (Coleoptera: Byrrhoidea), with a revised checklist species occurring in Poland Seventeen elmid beetles have been unequivocally recorded from Poland. The paper presents new data on the distribution 13 this family, among which Esolus parallelepipedus and Riolus cupreus proved to occur country. Altogether 227 are given, either authors' own observations or materials gathered during implementation programme "Monitoring ecological state surface waters, studies an...
The is insufficient knowledge of arthropod communities occurring in specific microhabitats. In this study, we characterize the assemblages inhabiting burrows common hamster (Cricetus cricetus L.) and factors that determine their diversity abundance. We tested following hypotheses: (1) are associated with a particular dominant vegetation vicinity burrows; (2) correlation exists between fine-scale geographic distances among assemblage dissimilarity; (3) type trap influences sampling success...
The paper presents new data on the occurrence of 69 beetle species collected in 2017 Białowieża Forest, NE Poland. list contains representatives 27 families: Anthribidae, Bostrichidae, Ciidae, Cleridae, Coccinellidae, Corylophidae, Cryptophagidae, Curculionidae, Dasytidae, Elateridae, Endomychidae, Eucnemidae, Histeridae, Laemophloeidae, Latridiidae, Leiodidae, Lycidae, Melandryidae, Mycetophagidae, Ptinidae, Ripiphoridae, Salpingidae, Staphylinidae, Tenebrionidae, Tetratomidae, Throscidae,...
This paper presents data on 23 beetle species recorded for the first time from Białowieża Forest (Polish part), and among them two new fauna of Poland. All beetles were collected using multifunnel (Lindgren) traps, placed in selected sites study area 2018. Collected belong to 13 families: Carabidae (1 species), Corylophidae (1), Curculionidae Dermestidae Elateridae (2), Eucnemidae Laemophloeidae Latridiidae Nitidulidae Ptinidae (3), Staphylinidae (7), Throscidae (1) Trogossitidae (1)....
The genus Agabus (Dytiscidae) in North Africa is poorly studied. (Gaurodytes) ramblae was found for the first time two localities Tunisia (Sidi Bouzid and Tozeur governorates) one Libya (Yafran province). This report of this species from Africa, which increases number known to 13. distribution A. discussed. An updated checklist occurring provided.
The genus Dryops Olivier, 1791 has a worldwide distribution. In the Palaearctic region, it contains 34 species, from Tajikistan only one was recorded so far—Dryops rufipes Krynicki, 1832 (Olmi 1976, Kodada & Jäch 2006). During an expedition of last two authors to in 2014 series new species found, which is described this paper.
