People with severe physical disabilities are not able of using standard robotic wheelchairs, which generally demand some motor skills, and therefore total usage associate muscles. Robotic wheelchairs commanded by Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) based on Electroencephalography (EEG) have demonstrated to be an alternative for these end-users. In general, existing BCIs require special platforms adapted the EEG-BCI, end-users need attend a long training process safely drive devices. But many...

This work presents a multimodal cognitive interaction strategy aiming at walker-assisted rehabilitation therapies, with special focus on post-stroke patients. Such is based monitoring user's gait and face orientation to command the displacement of smart walker. Users are able actively steering walker by changing their orientation, while lower limbs movement affect walker's linear velocity. The proposed system validated using results obtained point feasibility employing such in therapies.
