Red blood cell distribution width (RDW) is a prognostic factor in various disorders. This study aimed to assess the value of RDW patients undergoing amputation for diabetic foot. We retrospectively analyzed data on 415 who underwent foot between January 2009 and 2019. After establishing an optimal cutoff preoperative all-cause mortality, univariable multivariable analyses with Cox proportional hazard model survivorship logistic regression analysis prolonged hospital length stay (> 30 days)...

Background: Os subfibulare (OS) is commonly found in patients with chronic lateral ankle instability (CLAI). When performing ligament reconstruction for CLAI, excision of a large OS can cause substantial defects making anatomic repair challenging. This study analyzed clinical and radiologic outcomes among who underwent osteosynthesis the OS. Methods: 28 ankles CLAI (≥10 mm) that between June 2007 July 2021 were included followed ≥24 months. Visual analog scale (VAS) pain, Karlsson-Peterson...

Background: Periprosthetic osteolysis after total ankle arthroplasty (TAA) is a substantial problem. Bone grafting may be beneficial in the treatment of large osteolytic cysts; however, literature regarding outcomes bone limited. This study analyzed autogenous performed for management periprosthetic following TAA. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 42 ankles (41 Korean patients) that underwent Clinical were evaluated using visual analog scale pain scores, Ankle Osteoarthritis Scale and...

We compared the radiological and clinical outcomes of mild to moderate severe hallux valgus (HV) treated with minimally invasive distal metatarsal transverse osteotomy (MITO) performed by a single surgeon.Eighty-four patients who underwent MITO between May 2018 March 2020 were recruited followed for at least 24 months. The group was defined as having preoperative angle (HVA) >40 degrees or first-to-second intermetatarsal (1-2 IMA) >16 degrees; an HVA <40 1-2 IMA <16 degrees. Pre-...

Severe bone defects pose a clinical challenge in total ankle arthroplasty (TAA) and are frequently considered contraindicated. We introduce an innovative approach that utilizes structural tibial cut autograft to address anterior distal tibia during TAA. This technique is viable alternative employing revision TAA systems or resorting excessively high cuts. Furthermore, it facilitates achieving favorable sagittal alignment ensures adequate fixation strength of the component.
