Simple banana-shaped organic molecules self-organize into finite, spherical coordination networks with a diameter of up to 7 nm (see structure; green Pd, red O, blue N, gray C). These molecular spheres consist 12 equivalent metal centers and 24 ligands have cuboctahedral symmetry. A 3.5-nm coordination nanotube was self-assembled from 12 Pd(II) ions and four tape-shaped ligands with the aid of a 3.0-nm template. This tubular structure unambiguously determined by single-crystal X-ray analysis. Abstract The structure of a dimeric Keggin-typed polyoxotungstate, [Ge2Ti6W18O77]14−, was investigated by X-ray diffractometry and 183W NMR spectroscopy. K9H5[Ge2Ti6W18O77]·16H2O crystallizes in triclinic = 17.582(4), b 22.139(5), c 12.960(2) Å, α 101.26(2), β 94.07(2), γ 109.20(2)°, V 4622(4) Å3.
