Abstract This study investigates the process of formation ooidal ironstones in Upper Cretaceous-Paleogene succession western Siberia. The such carbonate-based is a continuing problem sedimentary geology, and this study, we use variety data proxies assembled from core samples to develop model explain how formed. Research on pyrite framboids geochemical redox reveals three intervals oceanic hypoxia during deposition marine Late Cretaceous Early Paleogene Bakchar ironstone deposit Siberia;...

The research work presents clay mineral composition in the sediment of Pliocene Productive Series from western South Caspian Basin and identify potential source areas for different regions. is a main reservoir unit divided into lower division an upper division. assemblages document coinciding changes provenance. At time deposition Lower Division, Russian Platform was area Absheron Peninsula drained by Palaeo-Volga River. However, at Upper Division three could be identified areas: –...

We investigated the mechanochemical synthesis of complex slow release fertilizers (SRF) derived from glauconite. studied effectiveness mechanical intercalation urea into glauconite using planetary and ring mills. The potassium-nitric SRFs were synthesized via a method mixing with in 3:1 ratio. obtained composites analyzed X-ray diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscopy, fluorescence infrared spectroscopy. results show that as duration activation increases, mineralogical, chemical,...

The aim of this research was to study the rare earth (REE) minerals in ooidal ironstone deposits West Siberian basin and Turgai depression. Authigenic (monazite cerite) were described, their main mineral form identified as light element phosphate (LREE-phosphate) study. LREE-phosphate is included ferruginous ooids, peloids, oncoids forms a consistent association with Fe-hydroxides (goethite its hydrated amorphous derivatives) Fe-rich layered silicates (Fe-illite-smectite, chamosite,...

Abstract The reconstruction of regional long‐term patterns recorded in marine sedimentary successions the Eastern Paratethys is important understanding role Cenozoic climate change and orogenic activity on depositional environment sedimentation dynamics Western Asia. In this study, environmental conditions early to middle Miocene (Islam Dağ section) eastern Azerbaijan are elucidated using petrographic–mineralogical relations, detrital indicators, weathering indices δ 13 C 18 O signatures...

Interactions between organic species and natural minerals are fundamental to the processes around us. In this work, with aid of molecular dynamics simulations, we investigate interactions apigenin flavonoid montmorillonite clay mineral under a range environmental conditions. The adsorption mechanisms found be sensitive both acidity ionic composition surrounding brines. particular, mechanism changes from cocrystallization in acidic-to-neutral solutions ion-bridging mild-alkaline. play...

Abstract. The Valley of Lakes basin (Mongolia) contains a unique continental sedimentary archive, suitable for constraining the influence tectonics and climate change on aridification Central Asia in Cenozoic. We identify provenance, (post)depositional environment palaeo-climate based sedimentological, petrographical, mineralogical, (isotope) geochemical signatures recorded authigenic detrital silicates as well soil carbonates succession spanning from ∼34 to 21 Ma. depositional setting was...

Clay minerals are useful tools for reconstructing palaeoclimatic history. The clay mineral composition and total organic carbon (TOC) of the Pliocene Productive Series from western South Caspian Basin was used to reconstruct palaeoclimate on adjacent land, which still remains a data‐poor area. Variations smectite illite contents in Lower Division suggest that two different climatic conditions alternated Russian Platform. High amount combined with low TOC indicate arid condition. In contrast,...

X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) is used for identification of clay minerals in sediments the Productive Series (Lower Pliocene) from western flank South Caspian Sea. We investigate fine-grained lower and upper divisions cropping out Kirmaky Valley, which located onshore on Apsheron Peninsula, Azerbaijan. The mineral assemblages investigated consist 44-64% illite, 5-33% smectite, 14-29% chlorite 5-9% kaolinite. dominance illite indicates physical weathering hinterland, possibly under arid conditions.
