Importance
People experiencing incarceration (PEI) and people homelessness (PEH) have an increased risk of COVID-19 exposure from congregate living, but data on their hospitalization course compared with that the general population are limited.
Objective
To compare hospitalizations for PEI PEH among population.
Design, Setting, Participants
This cross-sectional analysis used Premier Healthcare Database 3415 9434 who were evaluated in emergency department or...
On March 13, 2020, the United States declared a national emergency concerning novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak (1).In response, many state and local governments issued shelter-in-place or stay-at-home orders, restricting nonessential activities outside residents' homes (2).CDC initially guidance recommending postponing routine adult vaccinations, which was later revised to recommend continuing administer vaccines (3).In addition, factors such as disrupted operations of...
We aim to assess HPV vaccine administration among privately insured populations before and during the COVID-19 pandemic in United States stratify assessments by demographic geographic characteristics. Using Merative MarketScan Commercial Claims Encounters Database, we estimated monthly yearly people aged 9-26 from 2019 2022, measured as proportion of enrolled population who received ≥ 1 dose that month or year, their relative percent change 2020 compared same period 2019, overall stratified...
We go beyond estimating the effect of college education on longevity by uncovering mechanisms behind this while controlling for latent skills and unobserved heterogeneity. decompose with respect to a large set potential mechanisms, including health behaviors, lifestyles, earnings, work conditions. On basis data from Wisconsin Longitudinal Survey, we show that is well explained observed mechanisms. Furthermore, find women, positive has been historically masked negative marriage. discuss...
Abstract Background Systemic inequities may place people with disabilities at higher risk of severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) illness or lower likelihood to be discharged home after hospitalization. We examined whether severity COVID-19 hospitalization outcomes and disposition differ by disability status type. Methods In a retrospective analysis April 2020–November 2021 hospital-based administrative data among 745 375 hospitalized from 866 US hospitals, (n = 120 360) were...
Within the research community, there is a vigorous debate over whether additional educational expenditures will lead to improved performance of schools. Some an outgrowth lack causal knowledge impacts on student outcomes. To help fill this void, we examine impact capital school district proficiency rates in Michigan. For analysis, employ regression discontinuity design where use outcomes bond elections as forcing variable. Our results provide some evidence that can have positive effects levels.
New York City (NYC) introduced a universal prekindergarten program in 2014 that mandated influenza vaccination for enrollment. We conducted difference-in-difference-in-differences study to evaluate the using 2012 2019 MarketScan claims data. After introduction of program, vaccine uptake among four-year-old children NYC during subsequent seasons increased by 6.3 9.8 percentage points compared with rest State. (
In the United States, reform of financial system capital expenditure is under consideration, as people believe current through local referenda contributes to inequality in student achievement across school districts. Several studies using a regression discontinuity design (RDD) find zero modest positive effects expenditures on achievement; however, these identify only effect financing by marginally passed bond with vote share at cutoff. this paper I estimate average incorporating latent...

We use regression discontinuity design to examine the effect of a system public exam high schools, which admit students solely by pre-existing achievement, on student college entrance scores in Beijing, China. More selective schools may have higher peer quality and sometimes are equipped with more experienced teachers better facilities. find, however, that elite most selective, no effects test scores. find average improves performance exam, indicates benefit from attending non-elite schools....
We go beyond estimating the effect of college attainment on longevity by uncovering mechanisms behind this while controlling for latent skills and unobserved heterogeneity. decompose with respect to a large set potential mechanisms, including health behaviors, lifestyles, earnings, work conditions, at start risk period (1993-2017). Our estimates are based Wisconsin Longitudinal Study show that education is well explained observed mechanisms. Furthermore, we find women, positive has been...
Pregnant women are at increased risk of serious complications from influenza and recommended to receive an vaccination during pregnancy. The objective this study was assess trends, timing patterns, associated factors among pregnant women. We used 2010-2018 MarketScan data on 1 286 749 aged 15-49 who were privately insured examine trends patterns coverage. We examined descriptive statistics identified with uptake by using multivariate log-binomial Cox proportional hazard models.In-plan...

Prior research suggests that high quality universal pre-kindergarten (UPK) programs can generate lifetime benefits, but the mechanisms generating these effects are not well-understood.In 2014, New York City made all 4-year-old children eligible for high-quality UPK emphasized developmental screening. We examine effect of this program on health and healthcare utilization enrolled in Medicaid using a difference-in-regression discontinuity design exploits both introduction fixed age cut-off...
We examine the effect of New York City’s universal pre-kindergarten program (UPK) on health and utilization children enrolled in Medicaid using a difference-in-regression- discontinuities design. find that UPK increases probability child is diagnosed with asthma or vision problems, receives treatment for hearing an immunization screening during year. These effects are not offset by lower rates kindergarten year, suggesting accelerates rate at which identified treated conditions could...
