The ISOLDE facility has undergone numerous changes over the last 17 years driven by both physics and technical community with a common goal to improve on beam variety, quality safety. Improvements have been made in civil engineering operational equipment while continuing developments aim ensure operations following potential increase primary intensity energy. This paper outlines principal incurred at building similar publication of upgrades Kugler (2000 Hyperfine Interact. 129 23–42). It...

A gas-filled segmented linear Paul trap has been installed at the focal plane of high-resolution separator (HRS) CERN-ISOLDE. As well as providing beams with a reduced transverse emittance, this device is also able to accumulate ions and release sample in bunches well-defined time structure. This recently permitted collinear laser spectroscopy stable radioactive bunched be demonstrated ISOLDE. Surface-ionized 39, 44, 46K 85Rb were accelerated 30keV, mass separated injected into for...

We have observed beta-delayed proton emission from the neutron-rich nucleus 11Be by analysing a sample collected at ISOLDE facility CERN with accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS). With branching ratio of (8.4 +- 0.6) 10^{-6} strength this decay mode, as measured B(GT)-value, is unexpectedly high. The result discussed within simple single-particle model and could be interpreted quasi-free halo neutron into single-proton state.

For the first time, laser resonance photo-ionization technique has been applied inside a FEBIAD-type ion source at an ISOL facility. This was achieved by combining ISOLDE RILIS with variant of FEBIAD (the VADIS) in series off-line and on-line tests CERN. The immediate applications these developments include coupling molten targets introduction two new modes operation: element selective mode + VADIS for increased efficiency compared to operation alone. functionality demonstrated gallium...

The first fully on-line use of the angular distribution beta emission in detection NMR nuclei oriented at low temperatures is reported. magnetic moments single valence particle, intermediate mass, isotopes 67Ni(nup(-1)(1/2);1/2(-)) and 69Cu(pip(1)(3/2);3/2(-)) are measured to be +0.601(5) &mgr;(N) +2.84(1) &mgr;(N), respectively, revealing only a small deviation from neutron p(1/2) single-particle value former large proton p(3/2) latter. Quantitative interpretation given terms core...

On-line \ensuremath{\beta}-NMR measurements on nuclei oriented at low temperatures of the magnetic dipole moment $^{71}\mathrm{Cu}$($N=42$) are reported, with result $\ensuremath{\mu}$($^{71}\mathrm{Cu}$)$=+2.28(1)$ nuclear magneton (n.m.). The value shows a significant difference from $\ensuremath{\mu}$($^{67}\mathrm{Cu}$)$=+2.54(2)$ n.m., revealing asymmetry respect to $N=40$. This effect presents challenge theoretical interpretation.

We present results from the development towards Time-of-Flight Laser Ion Source (ToF-LIS) aiming for suppression of isobaric contaminants through fast beam gating. The capability to characterize high resistance ion sources has been successfully demonstrated. A ninefold selectivity gain achieved surface ionized potassium, while maintaining >90% transmission laser-ionized gallium using a thin wall graphite ionizer cavity combined with gate.
