ABSTRACT Background: The development and application of new technologies solutions are extremely important to manage monitor urban forestry prevent accidents resulting from falls that often result in social property damage. To evaluate the internal conditions a tree, it is recommended use indirect methods, both for trunk root system. However, existing methods can predict properties at lower level some situations, lead misinterpretation actual phytosanitary status evaluated specimen cause...
Identifying underground utilities and predicting their depth are fundamental when it comes to civil engineering excavations, for example, install or repair water, sewer, gas, electric systems others. The accidental rupture of these can lead unplanned costs, delays in completing the service, risk injury death workers. One way detect is using GPR-Ground Penetrating Radar geophysical method. To estimate depth, travel time (two-way time) information provided by a radargram used conjunction with...
Electromagnetic induction (EMI) method results are shown for vertical magnetic dipole (VMD) configuration by using the EM38 equipment. Performance in location of metallic pipes and electrical cables is compared as a function instrumental drift correction linear quadratic adjusting under controlled conditions. Metallic buried at IAG/USP shallow geophysical test site São Paulo City, Brazil. Results show that apparent conductivity susceptibility data were affected ambient temperature variation....
In this paper, the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) method was used to characterize concrete tubes and steel/plastic tanks buried in IAG/USP test site. The microwave tomography improve GPR images, aiming retrieve geometry of targets. numerical modeling studies also were done order predict results targets give more reliability interpretation. installed first shallow geophysical site Brazil located at Institute Astronomy, Geophysics, Atmospheric Science (IAG) University São Paulo (USP). profiles...
In this work, a methodology to automatically classify of metal targets using pattern recognition techniques on GPR reflection data is presented. The consists designing multilayer perceptron (MLP) classifier based features extracted from the in subsoil, and then it hyperbolas diffraction indicating their position depth. classification reflections allows high resolution reconstruction subsurface with reduced computing time. system was developed MATLAB applied obtained at IAG-USP test site,...
This paper provides a comparative study between microwave tomography and synthetic time-reversal imaging techniques as applied to ground penetrating radar (GPR) surveys. The comparison is carried out by processing experimental data collected at controlled test site, with different types of buried targets given subsurface depths representative soil conditions. It shown that the two allow us obtain complementary information about position, depth size from single GPR survey.
A good knowledge of the underground space is needed in urban planning. The main objects found buried are water and sewage pipes, cables, contaminants storage tanks. Through inversion inductive electromagnetic data, we can obtain parameters like depth, position, radius these targets. Here, show a joint approach apparent conductivity magnetic susceptibility using data collected at IAG/USP test site. model employed assumes three coils (transmitter, receiver, target/conductor) relates...
We present here a series of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) survey carried out in different areas the Dardanelos 1 archaeological site order to generate information about subsurface anomalies associated with material that could be use decision making within environmental licensing process Hydroelectric Power Plant, located near Aripuan? city, Mato Grosso State, northwest region Brazil. GPR surveys 200 MHz antenna were two blocks aiming locate resources and features. The analysis 2D 3D results...
Nowadays, population growth in the large urban centres and uncontrolled use of natural resources has provoked environmental impacts that limit quality life. Thus, there is an increase research related to contamination, geotechnical, planning studies, among others, aiming at a better knowledge subsurface support management soil sustainable way, without impacting future generations.
Summary The need for a consistent and accurate production forecast is of upmost importance in field development planning even more so times challenging oil price. Results are also required an ever shortening timeframe; however simulation forecasting can only be achieved using 3D static models. fundamental task not to create simulate just one model version but use variety models get range results, e.g. low, middle high cases (P90-P50-P10). Uncertainty analysis used many equiprobable...
A methodology for classifying automatically metallic, plastic and concrete targets using pattern recognition techniques on GPR data under controlled field conditions was developed. The method consists to develop an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) classifier, the multilayer perceptron (MLP), with features extracted from profiles over in subsoil, then it classify diffraction hyperbolas indicating their position depth. classification allows a high resolution reconstruction of subsurface reduced...

Summary GPR and Resistivity surveys results are presented for the Central-East region of São Paulo State, Brazil. This is a groundwater recharge zone at an outcrop area GAS-Guarani Aquifer System in Paraná Basin. GAS one largest transboundary aquifers world with ~1.2 million km2 underlying four countries South America (Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina Brazil). Our objective was to map stratigraphic heterogeneity hydrogeological characteristics using methods improve conceptual model. 200 MHz...
