The optical properties of heavily boron-doped nanocrystalline diamond films grown by microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition on silicon substrates are presented. characterized spectroscopic ellipsometry within the midinfrared, visible, and near-ultraviolet regions. ellipsometric spectra also found to be best described a four-phase model yielding access constants, which distinct from previous literature values. presence subgap absorption high extinction coefficient values defined...
The coloration mechanism of tungsten trioxide (WO3) upon insertion alkali ions is still under debate after several decades research. This Letter provides new insights into the reversible and mechanisms Na+ in WO3 thin films sputter-deposited on ITO/glass substrates. A unique model based a constrained spline approach was developed applied to draw out ε1+iε2from spectroscopic ellipsometry data from 0.6 4.8 eV, whatever state electrochromic active layer, i.e., as-deposited, colored, or...
Abstract Capacitance measurement results (via the so‐called Mott‐Schottky plot) and Infrared spectroscopic ellipsometry (IRSE) analysis have been carried out in order to study semiconducting properties of electroplated thin films bismuth telluride (Bi 2 Te 3 ) without any electrical contact. Electrochemical impedance measurements at 10 kHz exhibited that characterized n‐type semiconductors, depending upon potentials applied above below flat‐band potential. By IRSE study, energy band gap E g...
This work describes a new system using real time spectroscopic ellipsometer with simultaneous electrochemical and quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM) measurements. method is particularly adapted to characterize electrolyte/electrode interfaces during chemical processes in liquid medium. The ellipsometer, based on rotating compensator Horiba Jobin-Yvon has been acquire Ψ-Δ spectra every 25ms spectral range fixed from 400to800nm. Measurements short sampling times are only achievable analyzer...
The purpose of this study is to implement the basis a finite element model (FEM) based on resolution Nernst–Planck equation in order progress predictive simulation microstructural corrosion aluminium alloys. Certain constituent intermetallic particles at surface alloys are considered as preferential sites for initiation structural resulting localised trenching around and surrounding Al matrix. In work, modified scanning electrochemical microscope (SECM) experiment was used induce such...
The sodiation-desodiation process of sputtered amorphous electrochromic tungsten oxide coatings in an aqueous-based medium was simultaneously monitored over 99 cycles by cyclic voltammetry and situ spectroscopic ellipsometry. This allowed extracting the evolution optical geometrical parameters upon cycling. resulting electrochemical coloring-bleaching dynamically fitted 1.8-2.8 eV range with a four-phase model including constrained spline parametrization dielectric function. allows real time...
The sparking initiation during the anodizing of metals in passivating electrolytic media is highly dependent on physico-chemical properties evolving dielectric interface. present paper focuses magnesium alloy AZ91 and describes its KOH 3 M over potential range 0 to 40 V by combining situ ellipsometric electrochemical methods. In a first step, thin compact MgO anodic film formed ionic migration with rate 0.4 nm V−1. At 4 5 V, growth stresses lead sharp cracking this layer precipitation porous...
The pseudodielectric functions of electroplated thin films with atomic bismuth content varying from 1.8 to 2.2 were determined using spectroscopic ellipsometry in the energy range 0.03–3.10 eV. experimental dielectric show differences literature bulk single-crystal data which may be explained by a ca. 50% porosity films. In visible range, optical constants did not seem depend on film composition while infrared rough tendency can established: real part function shifted lower values increasing...
It is shown that at elevated temperatures the conductance of an In/sub 2/O/sub 3/-modified Ga/sub 3/ thin film depends significantly and reversibly on ozone concentration in ambient air. This sensitivity much greater than with pure or films, respectively. The characterized by impressive selectivity, maximal operation temperature about 600/spl deg/C. cross sensitivities to other gases present conditions are small compared sensitivity, thus opening way use this system for monitoring. results...
Pulsed electron deposited thin films of Ru substituted La(1-x)Pb(x)Mn(0.8)Ru(0.2)O(3) (0.2≤x≤0.4) show an increase in the magneto-resistance ratio by ∼5-15% at respective metal to insulator transition (T(MIT)) temperature when compared parent La(0.6)Pb(0.4)MnO(3) film. A systematic decrease T(MIT) is observed from ∼310 ∼260 K hole (Pb) concentration varies 40 20% with constant substitution Mn site. The x-ray rocking curve and high-resolution transmission microscopy (HRTEM) images suggest...

Abstract Polycrystalline thin films have been grown on gold substrates by electrodeposition, leading to different film compositions. In particular, our conditions allow growing smooth and shiny surface in a thickness range of nanometers micrometers. this article, electroplated layers were analysed InfraRed Spectroscopic ellipsometry. The dielectric functions obtained from ellipsometry analyses using the Drude Tauc‐Lorentz models. We attributed scattering distribution mobility with carrier...
This work shows the interest to use a real time, white laser-based ellipsometer characterize complex electrolyte|electrode interface during an electrochemical process in aqueous-based medium. method is proposed probe interfaces that are usually not suitable full extent application of ellipsometry due great disturbance reflected light flux provoked by gas evolution or roughness. In situ spectroelectrochemical combining such visible super continuum fiber laser-band source was previously...
A lap joint simulant cavity (LJSC) with a gap thickness of 200 μm has been developed to test corrosion assembled coated aluminium alloys. The LJSC was instrumented electrodes allowing simultaneous pH and potential measurements in 0.5 M NaCl solution. Assuming the outer part is electrochemically inactive (painted sheet) it confirmed that free corroding conditions inside tends more towards alkalinisation. On opposite, if active (unpainted an acidic value.
