A generalization of the double sample holder (DSH) concept is presented for an ultra-high vacuum (UHV) low-temperature (LT) multi-probe scanning tunneling microscope (STM). In UHV, DSH carrying, side-by-side, a reference metal [Au(111) single crystal STM tip apex preparation] and ancillary stand-alone small (for samples originating from clean room) that can be mounted in situ in/out plate. navigation on both surfaces performed using UHV electron positioned above stage. For demonstration,...
The Kondo effect results from the interactions of conduction electrons in a metal bulk with localized magnetic impurities. While adsorbed atop metallic surface, on-surface nanoscale version this is observed when single atom or molecule (SMM) interacting electrons. SMMs are commonly organometallic complexes incorporating transition-metal atoms different oxidation states. We demonstrate how nonmagnetic neutral tetrabenzo[a,c,j,h]phenazine can be on-surface-coordinated exactly two aluminum...
