Using MRI and voxel-based morphometry, the authors investigated 20 patients with chronic tension type headache (CTTH) medication-overuse compared them to 40 controls no history. Only CTTH demonstrated a significant gray matter decrease in regions known be involved pain processing. The finding implies that alterations are specific rather than response head or chronification per se.

Aim of the study was assessment efficacy and safety transcutaneous stimulation auricular branch vagal nerve (t-VNS) in treatment chronic migraine. A monocentric, randomized, controlled, double-blind conducted. After one month baseline, migraine patients were randomized to receive 25 Hz or 1 sensory area at left ear by a handhold battery driven stimulator for 4 h/day during 3 months. Headache days per 28 compared between baseline last number with acute medication recorded The Impact Test...

Background Chronic cluster headache (CH) is a debilitating disorder for which few well-controlled studies demonstrate effectiveness of available therapies. Non-invasive vagus nerve stimulation (nVNS) was examined as adjunctive prophylactic treatment chronic CH. Methods PREVA prospective, open-label, randomised study that compared nVNS ( n = 48) with standard care (SoC) alone (control 49)). A two-week baseline phase followed by four-week (SoC plus vs control) and extension nVNS). The primary...

Background Clinical observations and results from recent studies support the use of non-invasive vagus nerve stimulation (nVNS) for treating cluster headache (CH) attacks. This study compared nVNS with a sham device acute treatment in patients episodic or chronic CH (eCH, cCH). Methods After completing 1-week run-in period, subjects were randomly assigned (1:1) to receive therapy during 2-week double-blind period. The primary efficacy endpoint was proportion all treated attacks that achieved...
