We present a series of 35 patients (19 men and 16 women) with mean age 64 years (36.7 to 75.9), who underwent total hip replacement using the ESKA dual-modular short stem metal on-polyethylene bearing surfaces. This implant has modular neck section in addition head. Of these patients, three presented increasing post-operative pain due pseudotumour formation that resulted from corrosion at neck-stem junction. These further surgery aseptic lymphocytic vaculitis associated lesions were...

We previously compared the component alignment in total knee replacement using a computer-navigated technique with conventional jig-based method. randomly allocated 71 patients to undergo either or replacement. An improved was seen group. The were then followed up post-operatively for two years, Knee Society score, Short Form-36 health survey, Western Ontario and McMaster Universities osteoarthritis index, Bartlett Patellar pain questionnaire Oxford assess functional outcome. Abstract Objective To investigate whether variation exists in the preoperative age, pain, stiffness, and physical function of people undergoing total knee replacement (TKR) hip (THR) at several centers Australia Europe. Methods Individual Western Ontario McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index data (range 0–100, where 0 = best 100 worst) collected within 6 weeks prior to primary TKR THR were extracted from 16 (n 2,835) according specified eligibility criteria. Analysis covariance was used...

Abstract Background Although distinct, confidence and competence play a valuable role in healthcare education. For chiropractic students, both may be important mastering motor skills required to perform spinal manipulative therapy (SMT). However, little is known about how individual factors influence students' competence. Better understanding of these associations would enable the development tailored training. Therefore, this study aimed investigate between demographics, anthropometrics,...

Our aim was to assess the intra- and inter-observer reliability in establishment of anterior pelvic plane used imageless computer-assisted navigation. From this we determined subsequent effects on version inclination acetabular component. A cadaver model developed with a specifically-designed rod which held component tracker at fixed orientation pelvis, leaving as only variable. Eight surgeons by palpating registering bony landmarks reference points. The exact then established using...

Up to 15% of patients report at least moderate persistent pain after TKA. Such may be associated with the presence widespread hyperalgesia and neuropathic-type pain.We asked if there was a difference among who severe or no 12 months TKA regarding (1) pressure threshold, (2) thermal (cold/heat) detection thresholds, (3) self-reported neuropathic pain.Fifty-three volunteers were recruited from reporting pain, according Knee Society Score©. Differences between moderate-to-severe no-pain groups...

Patients (59 women 32 men mean age 68.7 years; 38.6 88.4) grouped according graphs which generated during navigated outcomes between groups compared. The 50 (55%), 19 (21%), neutral 17 (18.5%) valgus...

The use of computer navigation and conventional techniques in total knee arthroplasty remains controversial. Advocates navigated cite better alignment components reduced morbidity associated with avoidance intramedullary instrumentation as a rationale for their use. Spinal manipulative therapy (SMT) is a guideline-recommended care for musculoskeletal pain taught in various undergraduate programs. Visual feedback through force-sensing tables can improve modulation of SMT force-time characteristics and, potentially, students' confidence, both factors important clinical competence and patient outcomes. However, it unclear if link exists between confidence ability modulation. We aim to investigate this relationship whether was moderated by experience.
