Naturally occurring radionuclides 226Ra, 232Th and 40K present in the rivers sediments of Northern Pakistan were measured using HPGe γ-ray spectrometer to evaluate radiation health hazard indices excess lifetime cancer risk (ELCR). Average concentrations found be 50.66 ± 1.29, 70.15 1.45 531.70 5.45 Bq kg−1 respectively. Radium equivalent activity (190.89 kg−1), outdoor external dose (87.47 nGy h−1), indoor (165.39 total average annual effective (0.92 mSv) calculated. The are higher than...

The October 2005, Kashmir earthquake main event was triggered along the Balakot-Bagh Fault which runs from Bagh to Balakot, and caused more damages in around these areas. Major landslides were activated during after inflicting large area, both terms of infrastructure casualties. These mainly attributed minimum threshold earthquake, geology climatologic geomorphologic conditions, mudflows, widening roads without stability assessment, heavy rainfall earthquake. rock debris falls. The northeastern part of Pakistan is known to be a region extremes, where the highest reliefs and longest glaciers world may found. In this environment, through multidisciplinary Social, Economic Environmental Development (SEED) Project knowledge sustainable exploitation possibilities Central Karakoram National Park area (CKNP) will improved. One project's objectives analysis geological hazards giving as output landslide inventory susceptibility map, utilizable functional tools for future...

A numerical study of uniform flow past a row rectangular rods with aspect ratio defined as R = width/height 0.5 is performed using the Lattice Boltzmann method. For this Reynolds number (Re) fixed at 150, while spacings between (g) are taken in range from 1 to 6. Depending on g, classified into four patterns: flip-flopping, nearly unsteady-inphase, modulated inphase-antiphase non-synchronized and synchronized. Sudden jumps physical parameters were observed, attaining either maximum or...

The 2005 earthquake in Pakistan engraved one of the worst natural hazards history mankind. mass destruction caused by nature several parts Azad Jammu Kashmir is revisited to assess public impact. Several visits were paid most affected areas region, especially Muzaffarabad, collect data on debris flow patterns, loss vegetation, instability surface structure and buildings, impacts social etc. Influences pre-slide activities, both man-made, pattern landslides triggering factors investigated....
