Surface ozone (O3) pollution in the warm season (June–November), especially persistent O3 exceedance (O3 exceedances events lasting for two days or more), has been primary air problem of Pearl River Delta (PRD), China since 2015. Most PRD were related to presence tropical cyclones (TCs) northwestern Pacific Ocean. However, understanding relationship between and TCs remains limited. In this study, we divided Ocean 2015–2020 into four categories according their distances from PRD. We found...
Abstract The anomalous anticyclone over the western North Pacific (WNPAC) is a key atmospheric bridge through which El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) affects East Asian climate. In this study, response of WNPAC to global warming under high-emission scenario investigated based on 40 models from CMIP6 and 30 CMIP5. Despite low intermodel consensus, multimodel median (MMM) projects an enhanced but MMM CMIP5 weakened WNPAC, both reach about 0.5 standard deviation decadal internal variability...
Abstract This study focuses on the interannual variability of winter mean surface air temperature (SAT) and subseasonal SAT reversal in North China, which have profound impacts national life economic activities. The analysis explores temporal spatial distribution characteristics these variations their relationship with Eurasian Zonal Circulation (EZ). findings reveal distinct interdecadal changes China’s SAT, along a general cold warm conditions. In comparison to Atlantic oscillation/Arctic...
Abstract Synoptic temperature variability gives rise to cold waves and extreme events in winter. Based on four reanalysis datasets, this study investigates the decadal trend of synoptic boreal winter during period from 1980 2019, with particular focus sharp drops synoptic-scale temperature, which are associated waves. The result shows that standard deviation decreases significantly a − 0.15K/decade (− 0.09 0.21 K/decade among datasets) over continental regions mid high latitudes....
