The goal of these review papers is to summarize the recent advances in metallurgy aluminium alloys and from this analysis, try outline future developments field. Part I deals with transformation liquid solid state, while II will focus on solid-state transformations. These are by no means exhaustive since literature very abundant, but authors wish give a personal view what they think most relevant scientific contributions that can impact technological developments. L'objet de ces articles...

ABSTRACT The bidimensional fornulation-water/oil ratio map is used to characterize the emulsion properties and transitions which occur when inversion line crossed. Conductivity, stability viscosity data show that there exist four regions, each corresponding a class of emulsion, So-called A+ B+ A− C− conditions produce normal W/0 0/W stable emulsions, while B− C+ cases lead multiple emulsions. transitional catastrophic inversions are found correspond quite different transitions.

Abstract The phenomena responsible for the formation of macrosegregations and grain structures during solidification are closely related. We present a model study macrosegregation in an industrial sized (350 mm thick) direct chill (DC) cast aluminum alloy slab. modeling these DC casting is challenging problem mainly due to size products, variety be accounted for, nonlinearities involved. used volume‐averaged two‐phase multiscale that describes nucleation on refiner particles growth, fully...

Enhancing properties and performances of aluminium alloys by control their solidification is pivotal in the automotive aerospace industries. The fundamental role structure-diffusion relationship investigated for Al-Mg-Si liquid taken as a prototype Al-6xxx. For this purpose, first principles based molecular dynamics simulations were performed various Si Mg content Al-rich compositions, including binary alloy counterparts. Results indicate that and/or create more compact ordering around Al...

In studying solidification process by simulations on the atomic scale, modeling of crystal nucleation or amorphization requires construction interatomic interactions that are able to reproduce properties both solid and liquid states. Taking into account rare events structural relaxation under deep undercooling conditions much larger length scales longer time than those achievable byab initiomolecular dynamics (AIMD). This problem is addressed means classical molecular using a well...

Full-scale trials of DC ingots and laboratory scale directional solidification experiments have been performed to study the effect grain structure on macro-segregation in industrial cast products. An Al alloy sheet ingot was with constant casting conditions (speed, superheat, cooling rate) except for refiner: first half non-inoculated, while second inoculated. The results indicate that extent intensity centreline segregation is modified via grain-refinement treatment: finer grains are, more...

The relationship between excess entropy and diffusion is revisited by means of large-scale computer simulation combined to supervised learning approach determine the for Lennard-Jones potential. Results reveal a strong correlation with properties potential energy landscape (PEL). In particular exponential law holding in liquid seen be linked landscape-influenced regime PEL whereas fluidlike power-law corresponds free regime.
