The 6061 aluminum alloy was surface-treated by plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) in silicate- and borate-based electrolyte systems. authors attempted to incorporate selected corrosion inhibitors (8-hydroxyquinoline, 2-mercaptobenzothiazole, poly(acrylic acid) with molecular weights of 1800 450,000 g mol−1, acrylic into the oxide coating provide long-lasting protection substrate. These were either added directly for treatment or loaded coatings through a sequential PEO procedure....

Composite materials with the composition (100-x)Cu1.3Mn1.7O4/xLaNi0.6Fe0.4O3 (CMxLNF, where: x= 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40 and 50 wt%) were evaluated as possible coating for SOFC/SOEC metallic interconnects. The introduction of LaNi0.6Fe0.4O3 into spinel matrices improved electrical conductivity compared to pure Cu1.3Mn1.7O4. measured Seebeck coefficient values indicate that carrier concentration increased content, yet activation energy carriers' mobility decreased. Extensive structural...

Efficient replacement of materials based on critical elements such as cobalt is one the greatest challenges facing field solid oxide cells. New generation materials, free show potential to replace conventional materials. However, these are characterised by poor ability block chromium diffusion. This article described study CuMn1.7Fe0.3O4 (CMFO) spinel combined with single metal (Y2O3 or Gd2O3) thin films protective coatings for steel interconnects. CMFO was examined using XRD and TPR. Coated...

In this work polymer derived ceramic (PDC) coatings, based on SiAlOC glasses, were successfully applied 48-2-2 TiAl alloy samples. These coatings showed a significant improvement in oxidation resistance both dry and humid air conditions. The uncoated material poor independent of the atmosphere. SEM, EPMA Raman confocal imaging used to investigate mechanisms coated air. coating suppressed outward Ti diffusion promoted alumina scale formation.

Ceramic protective coatings applied to metallic interconnects play a vital role in solid oxide cells (SOCs) preventing interconnect degradation. In this study, uniform, dense, and crack-free single-layer of MnCo2O4, Mn1.7CuFe0.3O4, dual-layer MnCo2O4/Mn1.7CuFe0.3O4 spinel are deposited onto complex-shaped using electrophoretic deposition (EPD) method. The porosity sintered MnCo2O4 Mn1.7CuFe0.3O4 reduction treatment (1000 °C for 2h H2), followed by subsequent oxidation (900 air) is...

In this work, the potential of using Polymer Derived Ceramics based on SiAlOC glasses in form protective thin layers was demonstrated Ferritic Stainless Steel (FSS) Crofer 22APU steel, an alloy often used for intermediate- and low-temperature Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC's) interconnects. Microstructural features were investigated by detailed analysis combining Electron Probe Micro Analysis (EPMA) Raman Confocal imaging (surface depth profiling), which revealed formation Si-O-Cr bridges,...

Previous studies showed some transition metal high-entropy alloy (HEA) compositions can have good oxidation resistance in air up to 800 °C. Four equiatomic HEAs been developed based on FeCoCrNi with additions of Mn, Cu, Al or Al+Cu. The behavior these was compared humid (10 vol.% H2O) at °C for 100–500 h investigate the influence water vapor mechanisms. Cu- and Al-containing alloys exhibited improved over Mn composition. For Cu-containing alloy, a local attack Cu-rich phase observed, which...

Abstract Commercial alloy 600 was exposed to a metal dusting inducing gas mixture investigate the effect of ambient and elevated pressures on oxide scale formation behavior. The formed scales this were investigated via Raman spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atom probe tomography (APT) reveal differences in their morphology chemical composition(s). spectroscopy revealed graphite within chromia as well grains with Mn–Cr spinel. High-pressure exposure promoted presence Mn...
