Phospholipid fatty acids (PLFAs) are key components of microbial cell membranes. The analysis PLFAs extracted from soils can provide information about the overall structure terrestrial communities. PLFA profiling has been extensively used in a range ecosystems as biological index soil quality, and quantitative indicator response to land management other environmental stressors. standard method presented here outlines four steps: 1. lipid extraction samples with single-phase chloroform...

The kaolinite-to-chlorite conversion is one of the chloritization processes that occurs in low temperature diagenetic and hydrothermal systems. mechanism this mineralogical transformation still under discussion, since direct transformation, via berthierine as intermediate phase or formation berthierine/chlorite mix, either by dissolution-crystallization solid state (or a combination both), are all hypotheses put forward. In context, each description occurrence becomes an opportunity to shed...
Abstract. In the tropic, small watersheds are affected by intense meteorological events playing an important role on erosion of soils and therefore associated organic carbon fluxes. We studied geochemistry three around Basse-Terre volcanic Island (FWI) during a four years period, measuring DOC, POC DIC concentrations. The mean annual yields ranged 8.1–15.8 t C km−2 yr−1, 1.9–8.6 yr−1 8.1–25.5 for DIC, DOC POC, respectively. Floods extreme floods represent 45 to 70 % flux, more than 80 flux....
Boreal forest soils are highly susceptible to global warming, and in the next few decades, expected face large increases temperature transformative vegetation shifts. The entire boreal biome will migrate northward, within main of Western Canada, deciduous trees replace conifers. objective our research was assess how these shifts affect functioning soil microbial communities ultimately overall persistence carbon. In this study, aspen spruce floors from mixedwood Alberta were incubated...
