In a prospective randomised trial of argon laser photocoagulation in the management central serous retinopathy, long-term follow-up (6.4 to 12.1 years) revealed no evidence that treatment significantly influenced visual outcome as measured by Snellen chart and Farnsworth-Munsell 100-hue test. Treatment did not reduce either recurrence rate or prevalence chronic disease. Complications were uncommon. The justification for appears be limited hastening symptomatic relief earlier resolution detachment.
