Differential elastic scattering cross sections of tetrahydrofuran for electrons were measured absolutely in the energy range from 20 eV to 1 keV at angles between 5\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} and 135\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}. The measurements carried out using a crossed-beam arrangement without application widely used relative flow technique. experimental differential could be put on an absolute scale by means total electron current loss primary beam forward direction...
Abstract A surface chemical analysis of 12 nm diameter gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) coated with polyethylene glycol (PEG)‐11‐mercaptoundecanoic acid (MUA) is performed by means X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). For this purpose, the PEGMUA‐coated AuNPs are deposited using two different deposition techniques, drop‐casting or spin‐coating, on a thin‐film carbon substrate. The measurements show that present in +I oxidation state due to synthesis process AuNPs, and Au(0) state. Carbon oxygen...

The detection of helium in a deuterium gas environment (both mass 4) is an important task the field nuclear fusion physics. To fulfill this purpose detector has been developed which based on spectroscopic measurement techniques. For excitation and atoms different electron sources have tested. Most had to be rejected because they either produce disturbingly high background light level or cannot operated reproducibly after venting are mechanically not stable enough. best line emitting source...
A joint experimental and theoretical study of electron-impact ionization neon at 65-eV projectile energy is reported, showing excellent agreement between experiment state-of-the-art numerical methods.
Total electron-scattering cross sections of pyrimidine, the basic component for nucleic bases cytosine and thymine, were measured electron energies from 5 eV to 1 keV using linear transmission method. The results compared semiempirical data obtained by means additivity rule experimental benzene since it has a similar ring structure same number valence electrons as pyrimidine. Furthermore, integral elastic inelastic pyrimidine calculated applying spherical complex optical potential model. sum...
Track structure Monte Carlo simulations are frequently applied in micro- and nanodosimetry to calculate the radiation transport detail. The use of a well-validated set cross section data such simulation codes ensures accurate calculations parameters, as ionization yields. These are, however, scarce often discrepant when measured by different groups. This work surveys literature on charge-transfer sections nitrogen, methane, propane for electrons, protons, helium particles, focusing energy...
Electron emission spectra of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) after photon interaction were measured over the energy range between 50 eV and 9500 to provide reference data for Monte Carlo radiation-transport simulations. Experiments performed with HAXPES spectrometer at PETRA III high-brilliance beamline P22 DESY (Hamburg, Germany) energies below above each L-edges, i.e., 11.9 keV, 12.0 13.7 13.8 14.3 14.4 keV. The study focused on a sample an average diameter 11.0 nm thin carbon foil. Additional...
Total scattering cross sections of the rare gases He, Ne and Ar have been measured, for electrons in energy range from 4 eV to 2 keV. The measurements were performed using a linear transmission device an electron analyser, with angular resolution better than 1.1 × 10−3 sr far below first excitation threshold three atoms. uncertainties experimental results are generally smaller 3%. With few exceptions, present good agreement data other authors. Systematic deviations found between available...
This paper illustrates a tissue-equivalent proportional counter designed to have high gas gain and good energy resolution at nanometric simulated site sizes. Microdosimetric neutron gamma spectra were measured in dimethyl ether propane-based mixture down 35 nm. The comparison of experimental data with the results Monte Carlo calculations shows satisfactory agreement.
The ionization and fragmentation of methane induced by low-energy (E0 = 66 eV) electron-impact is investigated using a reaction microscope. momentum vectors all three charged final state particles, two outgoing electrons, one fragment ion, are detected in coincidence. Compared to the earlier study [Xu et al., J. Chem. Phys. 138, 134307 (2013)], considerable improvements instrumental mass energy resolutions have been achieved. products CH4 (+), CH3 CH2 CH(+), C(+) clearly resolved. binding...
Electrostatic biasing experiments using the Advanced Limiter Test (ALT-II) pump limiter in TEXTOR tokamak have been carried out with dual goals of: (a) improving core plasma confinement and (b) enhancing performance of limiter. The fully toroidal belt has biased during both ohmic neutral beam heated discharges. Both polarities bias applied up to a maximum +or-500 V no evidence impurity accumulation central plasma, although applying either polarity increases recycling from face vacuum vessel...
Differential elastic electron-scattering cross sections of pyrimidine were absolutely measured for electron energies from 20 eV to 1 keV in the angular range between 5\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} and 135\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}. The present results agree with data other groups within experimental uncertainties at scattering angles below 75\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} while considerable differences among found higher angles. values compared theoretical calculated...

Abstract Electron emission cross sections of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) are important for assessing their radiosensitizing effects from ionizing radiation using Monte Carlo simulations. Measurements these data require samples sufficiently large area density, homogeneous nanoparticle distribution, and a mechanically stable sample holder to ensure low background signal. While several methods exist the deposition nanoparticles, there is little information regarding AuNPs in an aqueous solution...
