We retrospectively analyzed the antimicrobial data of Enterobacter spp. strains isolated from hospitalized subjects and outpatients over 20 years (2000-2019). A total 2277 non-duplicate isolates, 1037 (45%) 1240 (55%), were retrieved. Most samples are infections urinary tract. Considering aerogenes, now classified as Klebsiella cloacae, representing more than 90% all except for aminoglycosides fluroquinolones, which showed significant antibiotic decreasing trends (p < 0.01), none other...

Beta-N-acetylhexosaminidases belonging to the glycosyl hydrolase 20 (GH20) family are involved in removal of terminal beta-glycosidacally linked N-acetylhexosamine residues. These enzymes, widely distributed microorganisms, animals and plants, many important physiological pathological processes, such as cell structural integrity, energy storage, pathogen defence, viral penetration, cellular signalling, fertilization, development carcinomas, inflammatory events lysosomal storage diseases....

Sperm surface beta-N-acetylhexosaminidases are among the molecules mediating early gamete interactions in invertebrates and vertebrates, including man. The plasma membrane of Drosophila spermatozoa contains two beta-N-acetylhexosaminidases, DmHEXA DmHEXB, which required for egg fertilization. Here, we demonstrate that three putative melanogaster genes predicted to code Hexo1, Hexo2, fdl, all expressed male germ line. fdl codes a homolog alpha-subunit mammalian lysosomal...

Abstract Drosophila is emerging as a model organism to investigate egg fertilization in insects and the possible conservation of molecular mechanisms gamete interactions demonstrated higher organisms. This study shows that spermatozoa several species belonging melanogaster group have plasma membrane associated α‐ L ‐fucosidase with features common ‐fucosidases from sperm other animals, including mammals. The enzyme has been purified completely characterized D. ananassae , because its...

Previous studies have suggested that iron-deficiency anemia affects glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) measurements, but the results were contradictory. We conducted a retrospective case-control study to determine effects of iron deficiency on HbA1c levels. Starting with large computerized database Italian Hospital Desio, including data from 2000 2016, all non-pregnant individuals older than 12 years age at least one measurement HbA1c, cell blood count, ferritin, and fasting glucose same date...

Antimicrobial resistance is a worldwide problem, and in Enterobacteriaceae, particularly Escherichia coli Klebsiella pneumoniae, critical threat to human health. Inappropriate unnecessary use of antibiotics health care the most common cause for development spread antimicrobial resistance. In this work, we retrospectively analyzed data E. strains isolated from midstream urinary samples over 20-year period (2000-2019). The aim was provide useful information clinicians prescribe more...

Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) represents the third common interstitial lung disease caused by an exaggerated immune response following inhalation of organic and/or chemical environmental antigens. The aim this study was to determine cut-off values specific IgG antibodies (named precipitins) and their association with clinical data in diagnosis HP. In 10-year retrospective study, concentrations against six antigens, Penicillium chrysogenum/notatum, Aspergillus fumigatus, Alternaria...

Matrix-assisted laser desorption-ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) is becoming a popular technology in clinical microbiology. It fast and highly specific method for the routine identification of micro-organisms. In this study, we evaluated suitability dermatophyte after only 2 days colony growth using MALDI-TOF MS. Two protein extraction protocols were also consisting either formic acid alone or ethanol-formic acid-acetonitrile to achieve complete extraction....
