Petroleum comprises the monoaromatic and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, which exhibit acute toxicity towards living animals. Consequently, their removal from natural environment is a priority challenge. On other hand, biomaterials are increasingly being used as adsorbents. Pectin chitosan well-known polysaccharides able to form coacervate hydrogels. Aiming an increase of sorption ability by hydrophobic compounds, pectin was also functionalized with two amphiphilic compounds:...

Aromatic hydrocarbons are extensive environmental pollutants occurring in both water and air media, their removal is a priority effort for healthy environment. The use of adsorbents among the several strategies used remediation these compounds. In this paper, we aim synthesis an amphiphilic hydrogel with potential simultaneous sorption set monocyclic polycyclic aromatic associated toxicity effects humans. Thus, start by copolymer-based chitosan β-cyclodextrin previously functionalized maleic...

The interaction between polyelectrolytes and metal ions is governed by different types of interactions, leading to the formation phases, from liquid state weak gels, through an appropriate choice ion/polyelectrolyte molar ratio. We have found that lanthanide ions, europium(III) terbium(III), are able form polymer composites with poly(sodium acrylate). That enhances luminescent properties showing Eu3+/poly(sodium acrylate) (PSA) Tb3+/PSA a highly intense red green emission, respectively....

Methods to produce WO3 nanostructures have become important due the possibility of using this material in a wide range technological applications. In context, hydrated WO3.2H2O structure was produced by electrochemical dissolution welding electrode scraps an alkali aqueous solution, followed acid precipitation. The thermal treatment precursor at 550, 700, 850, and 1000 ºC able g phase materials with monoclinic crystalline all temperatures used, as demonstrated XRD RAMAN characterization....

This paper presents a method for the controlled reduction of silver chloride (AgCl) by D-(+)-Maltose in presence poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) (PSS). PSS, acting as polyelectrolyte, plays crucial role process accommodating ions (Ag+) through electrostatic interactions during synthesis and stabilizing resulting nanoparticles (AgNPs). UV-Vis spectra revealed distinct absorption bands characteristic AgNPs, with Ag-PSS ratio affecting size distribution nanoparticles. Dynamic light scattering...
