▪ Abstract Renewable energy is shifting from the fringe to mainstream of sustainable development. Past donor efforts achieved modest results but often were not sustained or replicated, which leads now greater market orientation. Markets for rural household lighting with solar home systems, biogas, and small hydro power have expanded through entrepreneurship, government programs, assistance, serving millions households. Applications in agriculture, industry, social services are emerging....

Carbon dioxide removal from the atmosphere (CDR)—also known as 'negative emissions'—features prominently in most 2 °C scenarios and has been under increased scrutiny by scientists, citizens, policymakers. Critics argue that emission technologies' (NETs) are insufficiently mature to rely on them for climate stabilization. Some even is no longer feasible or might have unacceptable social environmental costs. Nonetheless, Paris Agreement endorsed an aspirational goal of limiting global warming...

Energy requirements to produce ethyl alcohol from three different crops in Brazil (sugarcane, cassava, and sweet sorghum) were calculated. Figures are presented for the agricultural industrial phases. The phase is always more energy-intensive, consuming 60 75 percent of total energy. Sugarcane efficient crop production, followed by sorghum cassava a net energy viewpoint. utilization stems might increase gain this almost same level as sugarcane. Cassava has lower at present state agriculture Brazil.

Abstract The Near Threatened maned wolf Chrysocyon brachyurus is a South American endemic canid occurring mainly in grassland-dominated regions. We compiled and mapped recent historical data to compare the species’ present distributions propose hypotheses for range shifts. There has been expansion eastern Brazil associated with deforestation of Atlantic Forest conversion habitat grasslands cattle range. northern, north-eastern sectors have not yet experienced significant modifications,...

Abstract Aim The aim of this study was to understand the spatial distribution capybara ( Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris ) according habitat attributes, using a multiscale approach based on fine‐ and broad‐scale variables in agroecosystems. Location Piracicaba river basin, south‐eastern Brazil (22°00′–23°30′ S; 45°45′–48°30′ W). Methods Potential habitats for were selected order evaluate species presence/absence from October 2001 December 2002. In each site, attributes sampled field (fine scale)...

The scattering of electrons from the low lying excited states 20 Ne and 22 has been studied in momentum transfer range 0.41 fm −1 to 1.04 . Over a limited study extended up 8 MeV. A phase shift code used extract ground state transition probabilities observed. model dependence results is investigated. experimental have compared with predictions Nilsson alpha-particle model.

We examined the histology of testes 134 capybaras (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris) and relationship among mass testes, body mass, ratio seminiferous tubules to interstitial tissue. The capybara had a low gonadosomatic index (0.14% weight, epididymides included) one highest known proportion nonspermatogenic tissue (72% tissue) mammals. Seminiferous in developed earlier than Older adults with larger volumes narrower diameters younger adults.

The charge radii of 20, 22 Ne have been measured by elastic scattering electrons. data analyzed in the first Born approximation as well with a phase shift analysis. results obtained are R( Ne)/R( 20 Ne) = 0.976 ± 0.010. This anomaly is shown to be consistent ground state deformations Ne.
