Effect of dietary supplementation n-3 and n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) on reproductive performances in both sexes an Indian major carp, Catla catla (Ham.), were investigated terms sperm quality, spawning response, fecundity spawn recovery over a consecutive 2-year period. Sperm count spermatocrit value the range 3.2–3.8 × 107 ml−1 80–82%, respectively, fish fed PUFA-enriched test diet, significantly higher (P < 0.01) than control diet (2.3–2.5 64–70%). Spawning response group was...
ABSTRACT The freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii, commonly called 'scampi,' is the most important culturable species of prawn with a fairly high growth rate, wide range temperature (15-35°C) and salinity tolerance. nutrients required by this for associated physiological functions are similar to those other crustaceans. Current data suggest that digestible protein level above 30 maximum efficiency. Ingredients such as mussel meat meal, squid shrimp meal serve potential sources in...
Abstract Fermented fish-offal (FO) meal was used as a protein supplement to replace fishmeal (FM) in the formulation of experimental diets for Indian minor carp Labeo bata. The two supplementary diets, one containing 25% FM plus FO and other 20% 30% FO, showed significantly higher digestibility, growth, deposition than reference diet 40% FM. Partial budgeting net return revealed that 50% replacement by fermented rendered total positive benefit 134% compared with diet. Keywords: Fish-offal...
AbstractAbstractElastic modulus anisotropy with respect to sheet rolling direction was calculated, using X-ray diffraction determined texture components and their known individual anisotropies, for a deep drawing grade steel in the cold rolled as received three heat treated conditions. The calculated elastic compared mechanically measured values, at 0, 45 90° direction, ultrasonic velocity anisotropy, an electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT) system. It found that EMAT matched variation...
Female Catla catla brood fish were reared in 12 ponds (0.03–0.05 ha) and fed daily once the morning at 30 g kg−1 body weight for 150 days with formulated feeds (six treatment each two replicates of pond) to study breeding performances. The feed ingredients rice polish (RP) groundnut oil cake (GNOC) (1 : 1) T1 (control); RP, GNOC meal (FM) (3 4 3) T2; GNOC, FM soybean (SM) 2 T3; SM 1: 2) T4; 1 added vitamin–mineral (VM) premix T5; VM vegetable T6. Results indicated that except T6, all other...
Fry (0.46–0.53 g) and fingerlings (5.0–5.12 of the catfish Clarias batrachus were reared for 6 weeks on experimental diets differing in lipid sources. Triplicate groups fish fed ad libitum each four sources (5 % diet), viz., (i) cod liver oil; (ii) sunflower (iii) mixture (1:1) oil/sunflower (iv) hydrogenated vegetable oil. These served mainly as n-3; n-6; a n-3 saturated fatty acids, respectively. The results indicated that dietary manipulation caused significant differences weight gain,...
Abstract Providing adequate Cathodic Protection (C.P) to existing tank bottoms in a refinery with many underground structures always pose challenge. As the original C.P system had been quite old and ineffective, revamping of for tanks piping was carried out which excluded double bottom tanks. However subsequently due corrosion second bottomed tank, there an opportunity challenge include this revamped C.P. system. The paper describes these challenges providing MMO anode consisting series...
A simple four-terminal AC bridge is described which can be used with germanium resistance thermometers down to 1K. The special features of the are its ease fabrication and extremely low cost.
To reduce feed cost, sewage grown Wolffia arrhiza (WA) was used as feed, singly and in combination with conventional to examine its performance rearing of rohu (Labeo rohita) calbasu calbasu) for 210 days. Three treatments, viz. fish fed only WA (TR1, TC1), (TR2, TC2) a (TR3, TC3) were L. rohita fry. Result showed that the mean weight gain (22.58g 6.82g calbasu), gross production (227g 73.7g net (217.8g 65.6g SGR (1.52 1.06 respectively) recorded significantly (P < 0.05) higher TR3 TC3 than...
The spherical Fe3O4 with 300 nm in diameter was synthesized by typical thermal decomposition of Fe (III) organo-metallic precursor polyol and polyacrylic acid. Fe-nanorods were prepared reducing nitrate presence polyol-hydrazine-CTAB. Morphology magnetic characterization the nanoparticles performed ESEM, XRD VSM studies. We detailed non-linear magnetorheological properties three MR fluids (10 vol%) containing isotropic anisotropic under both small large amplitude oscillatory flow. samples...
Abstract A high temperature shift quench drum in the hydrogen manufacturing unit of a refinery developed an inservice leak after 11 years operation. This vessel was made 1 ¼ Cr ½ Mo alloy steel (UNS K11789) with 304L SS S30403) internal cladding. Equipment 1¼ have considerable history premature failures industries, owing to reasons such as embrittlement, loss toughness etc. which are due issues related making, fabrication practices and operating conditions. Following failure, decommissioned...
