Summary The individual and combined effects of abiotic factors on pollinator‐mediated selection floral traits are not well documented. To examine potential interactive water nutrient availability three display Primula tibetica , we manipulated pollination in a factorial experiment, conducted at two common garden sites with different soil content (natural vs addition). We found that both affected trait expression P. hand increased seed production most when were high, indicating joint pollen...

The microbial diversity of soil, grape leaves and fruits from three wine-growing areas in Xinjiang, China were analysed using high-throughput sequencing. Results show that five fungal phyla 237 genera, as well eight bacterial 314 genera detected 27 samples. For both fungi bacteria, the was most complex followed by fruit. In soil samples, Ascomycota, Sordariales, Tetracladium Geomyces dominant genus, while Arthrobacter, Kaistobacter Skermanella genus. With regard fruit, Aureobasidium,...

Abiotic environmental factors are predicted to affect plant traits and the intensity of plant-pollinator interactions. However, knowledge their potential effects on pollinator-mediated selection floral is still limited. We separately estimated soil water (two sites with different contents) N-P-K nutrient availability (different levels addition) Primula tibetica (an insect-pollinated perennial herbaceous species). Our results demonstrated that traits, reproductive success varied between...

The interval spanning the terminal Late Pleistocene and early Holocene was a key period in formation differentiation of modern human populations. Existing evidence shows that physical features behaviors were complicated diverse, there may have been different lineages existing during this period. However, because lack reliable accurate chronology, as well relative morphological analysis, for most fossils period, biological pattern variations Early humans are unknown. A recent study remains...

Abstract Spatiotemporal variations in plant–pollinator interactions drive floral evolution and shape the diversity of flowers angiosperms. However, potential role driving differentiation across flowering times within a population has not been documented. In this study, we aimed to quantify pollinator-mediated selection traits different Primula sikkimensis (an entomophilous plant) two natural populations. The results demonstrated that plants were shorter produced fewer with larger sizes early...

Abstract Aims As one of the most important agents driving floral evolution, pollinators shape diversity flowers in angiosperms. However, previous studies have only quantified evolution a single trait, and experimental estimates potential role shaping trait associations are relatively rare. Methods We experimentally identified estimated pollinator-mediated directional correlational selection on traits combinations across 2 years an orchid species, Spiranthes sinensis. Important Findings...

Abstract Aims Identifying the potential role of vegetation context (defined as density, species identity/diversity and height co-occurring plants) in modifying selection on floral traits is a critical step for clarifying predicting evolutionary trajectory complex co-flowering competition environments. It also helpful to understand variation pollinator-mediated selection. Methods We experimentally reduced around individual plants Spiranthes sinensis (a bumblebee-pollinated perennial orchid...

Interactions between chemically functionalized tips and substrates in scanning probe microscopy are usually investigated by utilizing an intervening liquid medium, however the results may be influenced various ways medium itself. In this study chain length of a series primary alcohols is shown to affect adhesion measurements. The measurements performed layer phosphonic acid adsorbed on aluminum substrate aluminum-coated silicon nitride tip. acid/oxidized system has been characterized...

Quantifying the relations between plant-antagonistic interactions and natural selection among populations is important for predicting how spatial variation in ecological drive adaptive differentiation. Here, we investigate opportunity selection, herbivore-mediated intensity of plant-herbivore interaction 11 insect-pollinated plant Primula florindae over 2 years. We experimentally quantified directional on three floral traits (two display one phenological) within found evidence a later...
