Nanocrystalline alumina was synthesized by using the sol−gel method with aluminum sec-butoxide as precursor. FTIR, TG, XRD, and crystalline structure refinement were used to analyze phase transformations their structures. When samples annealed at 200 °C, they had two nanocrystalline phases γ-boehmite γ*-boehmite, which same but different lattice parameters defect numbers in structure. After sample annealing above 400 γ*-boehmite transformed into γ-Al2O3 θ-Al2O3. The γ-alumina contained...

Iron-doped titania photocatalysts with different iron contents were prepared by using a sol−gel method in acidic media. The crystalline structures of the various phases calcined at temperatures ranging from 70 to 800 °C studied Rietveld technique combination XRD experiments. average crystallite size phases, lattice cell parameters, phase concentrations, and titanium cationic defects samples quantitatively determined. Both content calcination temperature strongly affected transformation...

Hydrotalcites, which are anionic clays, have been synthesized by the sol−gel technique from magnesium ethoxide, aluminum tri-sec-butoxide, and acetylacetonate. Initially a colloidal solution is obtained gels thermally stabilized. The local average structure studied comparing electron microscopy results with XRD patterns. One of main features these materials high specific area (around 150 m2/g), if compared natural hydrotalcites areas.
