Abstract Aim Squamate fitness is affected by body temperature, which in turn influenced environmental temperatures and, many species, exposure to solar radiation. The biophysical drivers of temperature have been widely studied, but we lack an integrative synthesis actual experienced the field, and their relationships temperatures, across phylogeny, behaviour climate. Location Global (25 countries on six continents). Taxa Squamates (210 representing 25 families). Methods We measured 20,231...

Pragmatic methods to assess the status of biodiversity at multiple scales are required support conservation decision-making. At intersection several major biogeographic zones, Bolivia has extraordinary potential develop a monitoring strategy aligned with objectives Group on Earth Observations Biodiversity Observation Network (GEO BON). Bolivia, GEO Observer since 2005, is already working adequacy national earth observations towards Global System Systems (GEOSS). However, still an...

Abstract We studied Tachymenis peruviana `s thermoregulatory strategy, and microhabitat use selection in an open enclosure at 3400 m elevation during the wet season. expected that thermal conditions a high locality would result differences efficiency within microhabitats through their along day. obtained preferred temperatures critical tolerance limits of field-captured individuals. Some individuals were kept with access to four types retreats where hide. measured individuals’ field-body...

Oviparity is the most widespread reproductive mode among reptiles. The South American genus Liolaemus contains both oviparous and viviparous species, latter generally dominating at high latitudes elevations. We report for first time evidence suggesting oviparity in variegatus, an Andean lizard endemic to Bolivia. record its presence elevations up 4,200 m on Cordillera de Tiraque, which highest localities lizards world. characterize content of oviductal aborted eggs structure shell eggs....
