Developments of magnetic head, recording medium, positioning, and signal processing technologies made it possible to perform at an areal density 2 Gb/in/sup 2/ on a prototype 3.5-in diameter hard disk drive. A track 17 kTPI, which is comparable or even greater than that used in optical storage systems, minimize the reduction physical clearance between medium head. The authors outline system its component technologies. read/write characteristics are also reported.< <ETX...

Compositional and temperature dependencies of saturation magnetization (M/sub s/) uniaxial magnetocrystalline anisotropy (K/sub u/) are determined using single crystal CoCr-alloy thin films. Temperature M/sub s/ K/sub u/ stronger with increasing Cr content. s/(OK) Curie (T/sub c/) decrease linearly content in a Co-Cr-X (X=Ta, Pt) system. T/sub c/ become zero at the concentration 33 at.%, Co-Cr-Pt specimens have higher than those Co-Cr-Ta similar concentration. The magnetic properties...

The dynamics of Bonhoeffer–van der Pol (BVP) oscillators are known to be equivalent those the FitzHugh–Nagumo model and have been extensively studied for many years. In a previous work (Inaba Kousaka, 2020), we discovered nested mixed-mode oscillations (MMOs) generated by piecewise-smooth driven oscillator. this study, focus on MMOs that occur between 1s- 1s+1-generating regions s=2 3 in classical BVP oscillator where nonlinear conductor is expressed as third-order polynomial function,...

Chaos via torus breakdown in the piecewise-linear forced van de Pol equation is studied rigorously by using degenerate technique. The model a negative resistance LC oscillator including diode driven sinusoidal voltage source. authors investigate an idealized case where assumed to operate as ideal switch. In this case, Poincare map derived strictly one-dimensional return mapping of circuit onto itself. This clarifies onset chaos observed circuit. obtain critical value bifurcation parameter...

This paper discusses nested mixed-mode oscillations (MMOs) generated by a nonautonomousBonhoeffer–van der Pol oscillator with diode. We use our previously-proposed constrained piecewise-smooth dynamics, where the diode is assumed to operate as switch (Kousaka et al., 2017). idealized model corresponds degenerate case in which one of parameters tends infinity and circuit dynamics are represented one-variable piecewise nonautonomous equation, enabling one-dimensional Poincaré return maps be...

Co epitaxial thin films were prepared on single-crystal MgO substrates of (100), (110), and (111) planes heated at 300degC by ultra high vacuum molecular beam epitaxy. The film crystal structure varies depending the substrate orientation. On MgO(100) substrate, a Co(112macr0) bi-crystalline with an hcp is obtained. A Co(110) fcc formed MgO(110) whereas Co(0001) grown MgO(111) substrate. growth follows Volmer-Weber mode. in-plane magnetization properties reflect magnetocrystalline anisotropy...

Bifurcations of complex mixed-mode oscillations denoted as oscillation-incrementing bifurcations (MMOIBs) have frequently been observed in chemical experiments. In a previous study [K. Shimizu et al., Physica D 241, 1518 (2012)], we discovered an extremely simple dynamical circuit that exhibits MMOIBs. Our model was represented by slow/fast Bonhoeffer-van der Pol under weak periodic perturbation near subcritical Andronov-Hopf bifurcation point. this study, experimentally and numerically...

In previous works [Inaba & Kousaka, 2020; Inaba Tsubone, et al., 2023], significant bifurcation structures referred to as nested Mixed-Mode Oscillations (MMOs) were found be present in forced Bonhoeffer–van der Pol (BVP) oscillators. It is well known that unnested Oscillation-Incrementing Bifurcations (MMOIBs) can generate [Formula: see text] oscillations (i.e. followed by repeated times) for successive values of text], where and are adjacent fundamental simple MMOs, e.g. an integer....
